It counts, despite a handball on the way in. Intentional or not, that's the type of goal that shouldn't count IMO.

Very unfortunate, deflected off Gladbach player's hand into the goal.

I was just about to say the same thing, I'm kinda shocked there was no VAR there... I guess the argument is that the Gladbach player didn't move his arm in an unnatural way?

I'm in agreement. While handball's are supposed to be deliberate, a ball off the hand directly into the goal should be a different story. But that is just me.

In the Top 5, advantage always goes to the bigger club. I think we had established that already.

You should see the ones they have given to Bayern in the past.

    Goal. 0-2.

This time it's Neuhaus, the guy who should have been marked (on paper) by the Matondo kid.

McKennie and Serdar running till the end. But Wes gets a knock at the end. Game ends, with Wes getting some medical attention on the side.

I suspect it's more frustration than pain.

I think the rule should be re-written to classify illegal handballs as having a significant impact on play. "Intent" is a weird standard.

Just looking the replay. It looks worse than it did at first. Damn.

Agreed about "intent." I think the rules should say something like "unavoidable." Something that suggests there was nothing the player could have been expected to do to prevent the handball.

Refs are allowed (encouraged even at times) to ignore violations of the game that don't have significant impact on play. Fwiw, FIFA explains handling as:
"Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with his hand or arm. The referee shall take the following into consideration:
the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the
    ball towards the hand)
the distance between the opponent and the ball
    (unexpected ball)
position of the hand does not necessarily mean that
    there is an infringement"

Only saw the 1st half. Schalke was defensively disciplined, but don't really have enough creativity up top.

It used to be if the handball gave an advantage to the offending player/team.
