Yeah if anything, Benitez is too cautious of a manager which is fine.

Depending on how deep into the Asian Cup we go, Ki could miss up to 9 matches for Newcastle.

Of course I want the KNT to do well and all, but it seems like it would be more beneficial for him to stay in England.

the whole point for us to want our players to go to Europe, is so they can play better for the KNT. So leaving out KSY in the biggest Asian tournament is insane.

Maybe you should lobby to move the Asian Cup to a more sensible time then. As is you expect the player to be able to have the cake and eat it too. The timing of the Asian Cup is insane.

I know but that is nearly impossible. There would be no way to host the AC in the middle east in the summer (wayyy to hot). It is difficult to satisfy everyone.

last 3 asian cups were held in qatar-australia-uae. pretty sure it would have been organized for summer months had it had seen hosts from other regions. its not a january tournament.

afc moved the tournament from even year to odd year to avoid world cup-olympics

How about a Asian Cup anywhere but in the Middle East, to be held (example) on June of every odd year (2021,2023 etc).

And another version of the Asian Cup involving only the players playing in their respective leagues (plus max of 3 players playing overseas). Only k leaguers for the KNT (plus 3) Only j leaguers for the JNT
(plus 3) etc. That would be held only in the ME and only in even years.

Kinda funny considering he missed essentially the same set of matches at the start of the season even while being available. I guess it's nice that he's now seen as a key player.

    right-o.

didn't seem to matter when he was rotting on the bench. but now Rafa loves him and so do the Toons. i think Rafa even contacted the KFA and tried to negotiate a longer stay before call up.

anyways, we all know Dave is quality.

Ki Sung-yong officially out of the Asian Cup with a hamstring injury. Pretty much his last international tournament and will probably retire from the NT as well. Not the way how I wanted him to go out, but the retirement was bound to happen. Time for our younger boys to step up.

Must have been a sigh of relief for him with all that pressure and stress being part of the NT for the last 10 years.

I love the guy and we'll miss him sorely, but this post seems to be lacking some tact..

Seems like just yesterday he was picking fights with the manager and doing monkey celebrations. He has come a long way.

    Miguel Almiron just signed.

Guy was pretty electric at Atlanta United.

Curious as to how he'll fare in England and with KSY.
