So far Iran is pressing Vietnam. Referee gave a total BS yellow to Taremi. Level of this referee should be really low. CQ is using Kanaani in CB which is risky. He is slow and not relaible. Hajisafi as LB is another mistake again. We don't have Torabi or Rezaian as well. CQ is using defensive but more physical players.
Iran 1-0 Vietnam. Saman sent the ball on Vietnam's goal and Sardar finished it with a header. Vietnam parked the bus with 11 players defending. Now, they are desperate to score which makes them more vulnerable. An obvious handball by Vietnamese defender was not called by referee. So far one PK was not given to Iran.
Nice Nutmeg by Saman! https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs1AXwrHmdS/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=13abjluppdb0y
Lol Dang Oman had only 3 day rest.. They will lose this game. I remember when Iraq played semin finals 2015 against South korea... The players where death.. because they had only 3 day rest after Iran game which was very hard match.
Getting ready for ... https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs3EtkLDIBW/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=a5sxetm99283
I always think about next game in football not any further. The first match is the toughest we had and every next match is going to be tougher than previous match. This is how our mindset should be.
Right mindset but we need to think about one step further as well, specially about injury and possible yellow cards. A resounding victory over China is what I like to see, but not if it burden our players for Japan match. 2004 AC semifinal travesty is still a painful memory.
I am still on yellow since that WC thread. The Portuguese Super Mod was harsh on us and kind to his countrymen. Anyway good to have you back. Our boys should pay more attention at finishing touches or shot on target. Azmoun wasted 3 and Taremi lost 1 good opportunities.
CQ used Hajsafi as LCM instead of suspended Vahid Amiri for China game. Now who is going to replace suspended Mehdi Taremi for next game? Here are the options: 1. Saman Ghoddos 2. Mehdi Torabi 3. Using both Amiri and Hajsafi in the line up 4. Karim Ansarifard 5. Other options What do you think is the best option?
I prefer Saman at CM or wing. The most logical option is Karim if he can link up with Azmoun. Second option is technical Torabi. If Alipour or Kaveh were here, they would be ahead of Karim in pecking order.
Not having Taremi is a big loss in my book, even though we have good players on the bench to play for us. But his chemistry and understanding with Azmoun cannot be replicated as easily. In any case, I prefer Iran use Ansarifard in place of Taremi and use Saman Ghoddos as a substitute, where can (and hopefully will) do damage to Japan. But initially, Ansarifard's is better suited to tire and press the Japanese players and potentially even score, including from headers.
well knowing CQs admiration for ansarifard, if ansarifard doesnt end up filling in for taremi against japan, i will have a baby boy and name him shahrzad.
At the moment, I prefer we start with Saman Ghoddos. He runs and hustles like Taremi and he is a creative player as well.
IMO we should start the game cautiously and then raise our line cautiously. IMO we have mountains to climb for reaching to the final. Best of luck to our team tomorrow.
AC is over for us and finally we can shake Carlos worshipers and plastic fans off our shoulder. With this result CQ will be shown the boot and we see end of 8 years of boring but result base parking the bus football in team melli. Please hire a European manager with offensive football and bring back the good old days of having fast and technical midfielders and wingers who can build up our offense and score goals against decent opponents.
i was anti CQ but in latter half of his 8 years he was good for us. it was not his fault we lost today. i did not like his decisions in WC2014 against nigeria and bosnia, but after that he rarely had a bad performance for us. after that he stopped unnecessarily parking the bus. no other coach will be as good for us trust me.
queiroz does not focus on discipline with this team, it was visible in the last 2 world cups and it was visible here, why do the players pressure the ref and try to interrupt the game playing as little soccer as possible against equal level/better opposition?
I was not for or anti CQ ever. I hated his defensive football but liked his consistency and end result football. First 2 years he was clueless but later he built up the team. He slashed our creative play makers and technical players for benefit of physical football and we saw the extend of this method in last world cup. His newly counter attack style was good but it showed a big flaw in his system. He used every man in defense and midfield line to cover holes instead of working on quality of our defenders This match and match against Bosnia are hallmarks of his time when he actually played offensive against a decent team. He failed both time.
i wouldnt compare this to bosnia match. totally different. when you go down 2-0 to japan it is very difficult to get back into the game. neither of those 2 goals were CQs fault. although yes i admit in general we have trouble under CQ once we go down. but it was possible for us to claw back if that ridiculous penalty didnt happen.
Penalty kick can be 50-50 but we lost 3-0 not 3-1 or 3-2. That should be obvious for you that our team failed today. Sardar is not a clinical striker, same goes to Taremi and Ansarifard. We needed someone like Gucci or Kaveh Rezai for this tournament. Even Ali Alipour could help us. Did you notice how many sitter s Sardar and Taremi lost in this tournament. CQ hit his limit with team melli and we are going on a cycle now. It is time for a new coach with same level of knowledge but more offensive plans.
again, the 2 goals were not CQs fault. the 3rd was a meaningless counterattack goal in injury time. i know what you are saying, but trust me, the style CQ implemented was the most practical for us in terms of our limitations. we have to accept that we can not match the likes of japan or most world cup opponents pound for pound. so CQ tactics are normal to use. in WC2014 i was pissed about how he approached the nigeria and bosnia matches. at that time i would have agreed with you, in fact i was quite vocal about it myself. but after that his style became less conservative. an example is how during WCQ for 2018 we played a very balanced game and attacked south korea, and had a nice 1-0 win which could have easily been 3-0. this was a far cry from his previous games against south korea in which we defended and hoped for a lucky goal. so it is clear to see that CQ finally did transition from his ultra-conservative defensive mindset to a more balanced style. he also showed this in the world cup.. in the 2nd half we attacked both portugal and spain and played well. some people say we should have attacked morocco and we were lucky to win that match, but i think we played a logical game against them. people are forgetting that we could and should have scored a counterattack that azmoun messed up. the bottom line is that morocco had all players in europe and they were better than us pound for pound. this is is a reality we have to accept. our football infrastructure is shit and lags behind the rest of the world. in the 90s we got by via individual skill of our players but the world is advancing when we are not. football has become a science and countries are building up their infrastructure and youth system while we are stuck in the past. so we cant just rely on individual talent any more, it wont cut it. the only hope we have for success is to get as many players in europe as young as possible, and to have a practical coach like CQ. as for gucci he retired so why would CQ call him. and kaveh rezaie is untested for TM... there is no point of inviting him when we have azmoun. there is no way we will have a team that performs better than 2015-2019 CQ era. i mean for asian cup, it doesnt really matter because we will always get screwed by the refs and never make the final regardless. but there is no way a domestic coach or 2nd tier foreign coach like branko will match our WC2018 performance including the qualifiers. like CQs style or not, bottom line is that we will not get a coach of his calibre, maybe not in the next 20 years. we will get a domestic coach or 2nd tier foreign coach. i guess the best we can hope for now is a 2nd tier foreign coach who is decent and is more dynamic than CQ. so basically a little bit more risk-taking and attacking against stronger sides but not to the point that it neglects the defense too much. CQ was also a good match for us because for the first time ever, we had a united team with no drama or infighting. it will be hard to find a coach that continues this culture.
