I think this needs to happen. I think there are a lot of English speaking Americans who would be interested. You guys are posting in English here. So I would take that to mean that English is the first langue of a few of you at least. A lot of the second and third generation of Mexican Americans I know speak English as a first langue. I think the FMF is leaving money on the table by not making this happen.
It’s already happened. There’s clubs with English twitter accounts and there’s a plethora of English coverage. Just search on twitter #LigamxEng and #eltrieng
I know Fox has Monterrey and Xolols coverage in English on FS1 & FS2 alongside Fox Deportes. Maybe Univision has English coverage on SAP?
Don't waste your time Jack Sticker Don't waste your time Jack Sticker this is solely my opinion and many on these forums would probably disagree, but as of right 2019, there are two factors hindering hearty coverage of English language coverage of Liga MX. Given the amount of alternatives these days, I don't see Liga MX offering a large mass of neutral fans something that they can't get from the top European leagues. I try to watch Liga MX games as a neutral these days and many times I come to conclusion there is no entertainment value as a neutral fan. The forces/people who run Mexican soccer are aware of this, but are just fine with that. We also don't see a stronger push for full English language coverage because Entities/people running Mexican soccer have for the longest time been very apprehensive about ceding any control or access of content, players and teams to any company/persons who weren't owned or partially owned by them. Entities in control of Liga MX/Primera Division have had many opportunities and offers to help them grow their English language market size even before the rise of social media, a few of those times from very knowledgeable members (when it comes to Mexican League football) on this forum that have experience producing professional quality media content or are in the media, but they've decided to keep access in-house instead and nowadays what you get is a Twitter page for English speaking fans that is bland as can get and hasn't been updated in over a year. Fans unrelated to the league are the only ones using the hastag these days. https://twitter.com/LigaMxEng?lang=en I have seen a overall rise in quality of domestic Mexican league players compared to the players of the mid-1990s, but for various reasons the entertainment/attractive style of play factor some top division Mexican teams have had at certain points in time has gone down to a level where I don't think a neutral fan would enjoy what's being offered on the field for league or Copa MX matches.
Wasn't Chivas streaming some games on facebook in English? I'm all in for English coverage as long as that cringey ass "it's soccer time" commentator doesn't cover the games. Anyone remember that "Mamita querida, what a super duper goal!"
I might do a live stream of the Xolos game on Friday where it's just me commentating over top of the rojadirecta stream. ...no, seriously. I've done local NCAA2 games for a live stream before. My question is, is anyone interested in this? I'll give it a go if someone wants to listen for at least a few minutes. Liga MX is DYING for english-language commentary, and if half of us are watching via streams anyway, I might as well throw my own on top
How do you know this? Genuine question. I know Twitter discussion of Liga MX is in English for people living here but I've not seen many ask for English language coverage.
http://www.espn.com/soccer/major-le...bined-liga-mx-major-league-soccer-competition Liga MX should negotiate as a whole. This each club to their own thing is dumb. Screw having to buy 20 different cable channels to follow a team. Spain does the same stupid thing.
It is happening: Every match is available in English and the coverage is increasing. I'm wondering, when ESPN+ shows Liga MX matches is there an option to watch in English? If yes, who are the commentators?
Every Liga MX team is available in English in the US. FOX Sports has the home game rights to Monterrey, Tijuana, and Santos. FOX Sports shows all three teams' home matches in English. However, sometimes ESPN sublicenses those matches and shows them on ESPN Deportes. From my understanding those matches are available on ESPN+. I'm wondering if ESPN+ offers those matches in English. Anyone know?
Yes, TUDN EXTRA shows all of their LIGA MX matches in English. You can also access the English audio on the TUDN app and website. Unfortunately, while watching Univision or TUDN, you cannot access the English audio using SAP. In my opinion, TUDN's English commentary is far below NBC or FOX. TUDN almost exclusively use only one commentator and the stadium audio is almost inaudible. I'm curious to know what ESPN's Liga MX commentary is like, if it exists.
Sorry, I meant to write, I'm curious to know what ESPN's Liga MX English language commentary, if it exists.
I watched Tijuana/Leon via ESPN Plus last week and they only offered the game in Spanish, they have a couple more games scheduled for February and they are listed as Spanish broadcasts, if it changes, I will update.
Thanks! A stranger on Instagram told me ESPN+ offers Liga MX in English but I'm looking to confirm this and can't find any information on the internet; leading me to believe the statement is false. Tomorrow's Santos v. Necaxa game is scheduled for ESPN.
You're welcome, I will take a look tomorrow and see if I can find if they offer an english broadcast through ESPN Plus
