Anytime I am reminded of the K League and attendance I get mad/sad. Koreans dont give a crap about their own league and crap on the NT players when they perform subpar (mainly in the international stage). They have no idea that national team success is somewhat linked to the league. Also as we all know, the k league has done a piss poor job on promoting the league. The author has an earlier piece and I thought it would be nice to have some of our posters to comment, cause we are probably the most knowledgeable experts of Korean football outside Korea (not me). Ok I'll bite: The drop happened when they changed the rule on how they can count attendance. Pre-2011 it was pretty obvious that they were exaggerating the attendance #. Right now they only count tickets sold so the number looks a bit underwhelming than the actual people inside the stadium. I'll say it's been roughly the same as I've watched this league since 2009. Maybe the numbers did gradually got smaller though especially for teams like Seoul and Suwon. 1. Stadium is not the solution. Teams that have small football specific stadium still can't fill in half the people. Maybe other than Pohang. 2. Don't really think transportation is an issue when Korea is well connected. 3. It might work but Korean teams have zero money. 4. Yes I think there should be more community engagement but I don't know how they should go about it. 5. Yes the matchday environment is a huge problem because nobody knows what they are doing and supporter clubs don't do jack shit to engage with casual fans. 6. I thought about that long time ago. I think it's better for ajjushis to watch football then to get hammered with their co-workers. They might also bring their kids as well, quality family time. But when it comes to ticket deals, so many teams give out tickets for free and they are very cheap in general. The problem is that there's zero demand. My solution: 1. I think that the K-league needs to revamp and create a new league. The club and the league need to rebrand itself kind of what the premier league did in the 90s. First, the league needs around 8 teams, some teams might have to be new or relocated. I'll get rid of promotion and relegation for now. Concentrate on that small remaining team for now. 2. Personally I'll locate the teams in 8 more populated cities. Each teams must have a financial backer/companies thus they can't be backed my a municipal government. But it also needs to be financially independent. To do this there needs to be a rule where companies can only contribute 50% of the revenue at least for now. This number will decrease in the future. Also create a rule where clubs must be accountable for their attendance record. For example, 3 straight years of having sub 10,000 people, and you're out. 3. This league needs a lot of investments and needs a lot of contribution from many sources. Everyone needs to be in on it. I've talked about parent companies, but the most important source of revenue needs to be broadcast. Tell KBS or whomever and tell them about this new project and hopefully they are willing to give us a very good TV right. 4. To increase viewership, K-league needs to think quality instead of quantity. First set a minimum number of players allowed in each clubs. I'll say around 28. The remaining players we need to kick out by sending them abroad or to the independent second division. Secondly, with new revenues I'll bring in better foreign players. Not only that clubs need to start hiring better managers abroad. 5. To increase attendance, I'll strip out all the seats, put in crazy lights, smokes, and blast house/edm music. It'll be like a club/party which many young people are into. Young people aren't into watching football, they're more into drinking and dancing and shit, we'll give them exactly that. As well, I'll decrease the numbers of weekday matches. Instead, there's be a lot of Friday/Saturday matches around evening which is the time when people aren't really that busy. 6. Over time demand increases -> more money -> bigger pie -> more mouth to feed so we can start expanding. Once we have 16 teams we can create the second division with 18 teams. This time, teams in second division will have a lot of incentive to get promoted because of the "bigger pie" in the first division.
Yang Han Bin to Derby County confirmed? In all seriousness, it's great to see a K-league keeper (a fantastic one at that) get some support overseas. All the way from UK!
Jang Hak-young, who retired in 2017, was arrested for attempted match-fixing. What went down: - On Sept. 21, Jang offered 50 million Won ($44,200 USD) to an Asan Mugunghwa player (surname Lee) if he got sent off at the 20th min with a red card on Sept. 22 in a match against Busan. - Lee basically told him to fuck off. - Lee reported Jang immediately to the police after the incident. - Jang got arrested at a hotel in Busan. - The news couldn't be released until the police caught Jang's accomplice. People are saying the player who reported Jang was Lee Han-saem. Respect to the dude for rejecting/reporting the incident considering what military players/referees make. http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/news/2018/10/14/0200000000AEN20181014004400315.html Also, fuck these sensationalist-type titles: https://m.news.naver.com/read.nhn?mode=LSD&sid1=001&oid=028&aid=0002428391 Where it sounds like the player actually accepted the offer.

http://bucheonfc.net/xe/board/280740 Yes it's a 5000 seater that can be expanded to a 10k seater, but might require construction during the season.
