Florida State were great today. Stanford are the best team in college soccer no doubt about it. But the great thing about the NCAA tournament is that the best team doesn’t always win and if you’re not on your game you can be picked off. Happened today and FSU deserved the win.
Since I can't watch the game because I don't get ESPNU, I'm watching Diners, drive-ins, and dives and following the FSU vs Stanford women's game on one tab on my phone and the Akron vs Stanford men's game on another tab. In both games, Stanford is down 2-0. I like it.
MK barely spoke to her in his interview. What a dumb question to ask one of the best coaches in the country.
Nice covert dig Best team did win that game and did not pick off anything. We were better than Stanford in every aspect of that game.
FSU isn't just any team. They earned a #1 seed and tonight showed AGAIN why they were deserving of it. They controlled this match from jump. The growth of this TEAM over the course of this season has been amazing to watch. One more. GO NOLES!
When's the last time Stanford was held to 1 shot on goal for a game? It has to have been a long time. Deserved win for the noles. Their internationals make a difference.
Foudy did a great job of chronicling Stanford's injuries. She barely mentioned ours. 1. Our starting GKer out. 2. Our starting wide MFer out. 3. Starting R back from last year out. 4. 2 key subs out. That's 5 players. Our depth saved us! With those players back next year, look out!
We actually have 6 players out.... She was setting up the excuse as to why they lost. Never mentioning that we were in the same boat but were able to prevail. They have national player after national, player on their bench and yet we handled them with relative ease being down 6 key players ourselves.
Internationals are on every team now, Marcario at Stanford, Russo at UNC, not just FSU anymore. A certain young woman from Jamaica plays for a team you may of heard of
Not to be forgotten is that Florida State finished #7 in the ACC regular season. The Women's Soccer Committee no doubt feels vindicated by giving them a #1 seed. What's perhaps lost is that, for the future, this also vindicates the Committee's decisions in seeding and at large selections that if you're in a Power 5 conference, it doesn't really matter where you finish in your conference's regular season standings. Lest readers misinterpret, I'm not saying anything critical of anyone or anything. I'm only making an observation. The Committee, this year, staked out a position that the Power 5 conferences are far superior to the other conferences and that where Power 5 teams finish in their regular season conference standings is almost irrelevant. The results in the Tournament, overall, support the Committee's position.
Last year Stanford beat us with a great run from a CB Davidson! I thought a big part of the difference today was the offensive play of our CBs. Great Job! Now celebrate and then get locked in for a war on Sunday!
Didn’t mean it as a dig the best team won. Stanford in my opinion are the best team in the country- if they played any team 10 times they would win 7-8 because they are better. On the day Florida state were better and they played a great game. It wasn’t a fluke they deserved it.
Well its Jules, she doesn't even pretend to be impartial anymore when it comes to her precious Cardinals. It's all about reminding everyone the hardships they faced such as bad air quality, the few five star recruits they lost, etc. etc. etc.
UNC's teams of 2012 and 2013 were still better than this 2018 team. They could use Dunn or Ohai against Florida State. But it's anyone's game on Sunday.
Now I'm really happy that Penn State was able to keep THE BEST TEAM to only one goal on their home pitch.
I thought Stanford would win -- but Stanford was totally outclassed by FSU in every aspect of the game. The two best teams are going to the college cup finale. I thought it would be Stanford and UCLA.
