I haven't seen this team play since the European U-17 finals tournament, but I'm sure there were definitely other generations that looked pretty bad, and didn't even make it out of their U-17 WC group stage.

So like those other generations I imagine there's some pretty good talent within the squad, but nobody will probably get to see it until they transition into the U-19/20 level.

Stegemann and Martinez are the teams only players to be training with first division Bundesliga teams every week. And I think Martinez is making regular substitute appearances this season too.

So it's no surprise to hear that Martinez is being talked about as the teams best player, and also no surprise to hear the coach didn't know how to get the best from her attacking talent either.
Watching wnt teams like Japan, and honestly find it inexcusable to see the current condition of the German wnt's coaching.

But as a wider theme, hearing the U-17's just used a defensive 5-4-1 for an entire tournament, seems indicative of the current standard of coaching within this system.

We all know that Ballweg’s not a genius and bad coaching seems to be a trend now in German football, men and women

I don't get German coaching since Jorgie is still coach of the men's NT even after his latest disasters at the Nations league. Unfortunately his style(attack with sheer numbers, which at times leaves the flanks completely defenseless) seems to have expanded it's influence into woso(Neid/Jones/Meinert , possibly MVT, as well as WOB at the CL champ. match)
so it was kinda of refreshing to see the Germans to actually 'bunker' in the 1st half with it's two sets of straight lines. Take it was to keep in bay, Canada's superstar, Jordyn Huitema, who honestly. is way too experienced to be playing at this level since she's been capped 15 times at her country's senior NT while scoring 6 to goals all ready for them.

But we've seen so many times previously where a young, supposed superstar, max's out by the time they become adults(either through series of injuries or growth spurs)

Germany still made it as the 2nd best Euro team at u17(the other big names. England, France & Holland, couldn't even qualify). With all the success Spain had over the last 4 years it has yet to develop at the senior level(where their NT has consistently flopped). Then take look at the 2012 WC champs, France, their briulliant mid at the time, Sandie Tolleti been relugated to their B NT

since the tradionally strong youth programs have been eliminated(the technocrat Asians & the more athletic Africans) the most successful formula has bee pushing teens to play at the adult levle(as not only Huitema but the rest of her team mates practice with the senior squad/NZ & MEX might be quite similar). Not sure if it's the best method \, as why keep pushing kids at such a young age?

But everybody knows the mnt will have a list of highly credible domestic options to come in and potentially improve their coaching staff, with the DFB primarily making their final decisions based on who's actually best for the job.

However, when it comes to the leadership of the wnt, we already know the options for the future head coaching role minuscule; and this thanks to the well meant but poorly judged women's only policy currently in place, that will only guarantee the wnt's future of never receiving the best potential candidates.

Neid looks bad, Jones makes it worse, Hrubesch becomes a gauze pad to stop the bleeding, and then it's decided MVT is the right choice to take over, just prior to the selection of 22 players for her new teams participation in a WC finals...o_O

Nobody involved or interested in the success of the mnt would tolerate such amateurish behavior. Making any continued perceived correlation between the two programs current health kind of pointless, no?

    welcome back.eh..........Lea Schuller,
wonder why we need MTV's name in the thread, as in the normal world, she'll be fired when she fails misreably at the WC/ But then I forgot we live an an alter world where Jorgie remains coach despite his incredible terrible coaching!

I only assumed Jones was in the current title cause it was clear her reign would end soon enough. As a closed chapter so to say.

    How about

"General Voss-Tecklenburg: To France we only on go on tank treads"
"50 year old Heidi comes back down from the mountains"
"Das Martina Upgrade: Sickle cut into your defense"
"New Silvia same as old Silvia"

Ive watched the presser yesterday and it was pretty clear for everyone involved that this is a long term shot. MVT doesnt have to win anything next year. Unless we go home after the group stage she is going to stay until 2023 the very least
