No no Pauly... you got it wrong. When Italia does it.. it’s negative and ugly catenaccio. When it’s pork chops or English... it’s “cagey brilliant tactical football”
A meaningless picture? Bravo e Complimenti! Italia vs. USA on tv today! Viva l’Italia! Viva l’America! VIVA MLS! VIVA SERIE A!
There seems to be some buzz about this Tonali kid. Other than looking exactly like Pirlo, does he actually play like him too?
You're right, when you're pressed into your own end for large spells of the game, opening up and giving the opposition more clear chances on goal isn't going to eventually cost you.
Pauly, I'm still one of them. Setting aside the fact that there has been a clear dip in form of late, we have to admit that we would kill to have the success that the Germans had after that 2006 World Cup for about a decade after what we've experienced in that same period; not just in terms of results with the NT, but also as to the talent that they produced. You will recall that period of success coincided with a stretch of years where the Germans went through the same stuff we are going through now. That said, if you look at the recent quality of play by our NT, coupled with the stronger performances our clubs have been putting up in Europe, for the first time in a while I believe the arrow is pointing upward. Though I would admit that it is concerning not to see Italians aside from Chiellini and Bonucci playing a key role for Juve, who often supplies the NT with much of its talent.
Yes, it is. None of W. Carvalho, R. Neves or Pizzi would have started for our midfield. There is a reason that none of them plays for a major club, unless you consider Benfica a major club. How can you say that Portugal were comfortable knowing that Italy would not take their chances? We missed a couple of sitters FFS and we created more than that. The quality of the buildup play is as good as it's been in a long time. No sense in completely discarding a system because we haven't found our scoring touch.
Chiellini and Bonucci start for Juve. Bernardeschi rotates. He does not just languish on the bench. Perin was brought in to compete for a starting role that he has not won (yet). Who is this great Italian player that is wasting away on Juve's bench?
Just watched the first half against the US. Once again, absolute domination in possession, we looked very comfortable with the ball, crisp, quick, short passes. Issue again is the final third, lack of creativeness and invention. However, we did have a couple really good chances to score. Berardi with a legit shot on goal and a couple dangerous free kick opportunities. Sensi looked really good early on, looks like a great option in the mid.
Would LOVE too see Insigne and Bernadeschi come on ... I get its a game to experiment but I also think our starters need more playing time together....
Verratti getting deep in the US box, what's up with that Tottifan? Pasta/Faggioli misses on a break. Berardi out, Moise on
I am so damn frustrated. We cant score a damn goal. Missed chance after chance. We get to their box and freeze because we lack that creativity/special ball through.
All that space and you kick it straight to the keeper wtf. This is why no one will remember your name, Lasagna.
Verratti a great ball through to Lasagna who shoots right at Horvath. Now would be a good time to see what another #9 can do. Push Keen up and bring on someone else.
Cant say we aren't trying lol. The effort is definitely there. I'm impressed by how well we are regaining possession and pressing the U.S.
