Do your kids enjoy it or are they getting burned out? If its just you, i'd suggest trying to find them rides to practice etc. so you dont have to go. I've managed to find some balance and am not driving as much to trainings. If your kids are feeling burned out then you have to rethink everything.

I agree. I (and my wife) do it because the KIDS enjoy it. We enjoy watching them get enjoyment from it. We've been on the travel soccer bandwagon for seven or eight years now. DS and I are currently sitting in a hotel 8 hours away from home waiting to go to his game this afternoon.

Do I HOPE he gets a scholarship? Of course. But that's not why we do it.

Can’t even count the rounds of golf, days at the beach or naps on the couch missed over 15 years...and I wouldn’t do it differently, given the chance to do it again.

Lots of long talks on road trips, lots of nights washing socks in the sink and too many long team dinners.

There is no “one way” to do it but I would recommend spending more time with kids than less even if that means “wasting time”.

Sounds like you already know what the solution may be. Plan some family time and prioritize it ahead of training/games instead of trying to schedule around it.

I hand off my U-littles to an Academy coach in the Winter - so I get a break from coaching and running around doing the administrative stuff.

    In anycase...

Super Y try outs last night - winter practice starts tonight - 3 x a week and games on Saturdays.

I am very happy to watch my kid play soccer - see the smiles and hugs amongst her mates coming back from break.

No matter how much driving or time it takes away from other "stuff", I am always on cloud 9 when we get back into it.

Hope everyone has a great winter!
