Thanks for the photo Bluewings! So, WK League Season 10 (Are they making a fist because it means "ten", or something else?) Here I'll recap rounds 1 to 5 of the season 2018, with highlights. If you need to find a player or number, Wikipedia's team lists seem comprehensive: - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_WK_League#Teams From that page, the overseas players in the 2018 season squads. Thank you! Now it's time for more Hwaiting Round 6 Gumi were fighting amongst themselves to give away a bizarre penalty: Suwon UDC v Gumi Sports Toto: Lee Hyun-young goal, 18 May And birthday in-fighting at Suwon with their headcoach Park Gil-yong. They went into 1st place thanks to Incheon's 1-0 defeat at Hwacheon the same day. Round 7 Suwon followed that up with a spirited fightback - at the champions Incheon, a quick pair of goals took Suwon level at 2-2, Kim Ji-eun (50') and Kim Mi-yeon (53'). But Incheon won the game with a 6-goal display, with Thaís, Beatriz, Jang Sel-gi, Han Chae-rin and Kim Woo-ri scoring: - youtube.com/watch?v=oXuSedqrcrw&t=2h15m04s That result put Incheon top of the table on goal difference. Oh my goodness It's the 2 best things in the world, together WK-League commentators and Auto-generated auto-translated subtitles (beta) (from Incheon Red Angels v Hwacheon KSPO) CLEAR MY SCHEDULE
My guess is, they're saying players' names, and the technology doesn't differentiate the names from a word that sound similar. (They mentioned "a scorpion" again later.) Or maybe someone did a "scorpion" kick and we missed it.
Probably 전가을 since she plays for 화천 KSPO. if you say her name quick enough could sound like 전갈 (scorpion).
In weeks 11-15, the leaders Incheon continued their winning ways, including a close 2nd-half win 1-0 against Seoul at home. Then Incheon were held goalless by Gumi for 75 minutes, before Incheon got a quickfire 3-0 away victory. (Gumi are now in 2nd place.) Incheon's other scores: 2-1 over Hwacheon KSPO, 1-1 away at Suwon, and 1-0 over highflyers Gyeongju, only with a penalty by Brazil's Beatriz. In the other TV games, the struggling Boeun held Gumi 0-0 at home, bottom club Changnyeong got a rare 3-0 win, and the Boeun-Seoul game was held up by a flying drone, which taught me a lot about Korean drone laws Finally, Glaucia scored twice for Hwacheon KSPO, who beat Boeun 4-1, after a 1st-minute goal. It included games with league teams. The Incheon-Suwon match below was great, despite a terrible field surface. Each team played as hard or harder than in a WK-League match – I think they fielded all-Korean lineups without the internationals(?) and as you see, Suwon managed to upset the form-book with a 1-0 win: Incheon Hyundai Steel v Suwon FC (인천현대제철 vs 수원도시공사) highlights - www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdHhgngJlBE&t=2h21m06s In the other game of note, the national university final: Ulsan College (blue) v Daeduk College (white) (울산과학대 vs 대덕대 대학부) highlights or full video
The last matches of the WK-season are today - the top 3 go to the final playoffs: In today's live match, Suwon must beat the top club to progress: Suwon v Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels Oct 22, live at 10:00 GMT / 19:00 KST - youtube.com/watch?v=kj64WNQDX34 Pre-match table: 1. Incheon, 68pts (Q) 2. Gyeongju, 53pts (Q) 3. Suwon, 49pts, GD +14 4. Gumi 48pts, GD +13 Gumi are playing 3 hours earlier at last-place Changnyeong. After this, the playoffs will be a 2nd vs 3rd single-elimination match, then a 2-leg final with Incheon. How to sum up weeks 16 to 27, twelve rounds in one post? Easy! Incheon topped the table with ease, but they've lost their best goalscorer Beatriz to injury - she's missing the rest of the season. The Brazilian got a collarbone injury in an unusual incident with Changnyeong's Lee Han-un in week 23. This year, Beatriz had 19 goals (24 in 2017), while her teammate and compatriot Thaís has 16 so far. It would still be a shock if they didn't win a 6th title in a row. Gyeongju KHNP are a surprise 2nd-place team, in the club's 2nd season. Their strikeforce of Lee Geum-min (no 9) of Korea, and Ines Nrehy (10) and Josée Nahi (15), both from Ivory Coast, have had a big role in their season, as seen in their 2-1 win at Suwon, and a 2-0 over Seoul. Altogether those three have scored 30 goals. (There's a Korean article on the team on FootballJournal, and an interview with the manager Kim Poong-joo, ex-player for South Korea men's team.) In the 3rd-4th battle, Suwon stayed ahead in the playoff race with a win and draw against Gumi (2-0 at home, 1-1 away). Gumi might overtake today, and they've had some impressive scores, a turbulent 4-3 win at Seoul, then a 3-1 at Hwacheon. Suwon's top-scorers are Moon Mi-Ra and Paige Nielsen (USA), and Gumi's is Kim Sang-eun. Hwacheon KSPO (5th) were only a few wins from playoff pace, but they've been inconsistent, and they lost all 4 games to Gumi, the team above them in the table, who they had beaten in 3 games in 2017. Seoul (6th) struggled in the league, but they drew twice with the champions Incheon, including a 3-3 away draw with two great goals, Seo Ji-yeon's opener and Shin Ji-young's equalizing header. Boeun (7th) were the world military soccer silver-medallists in Texas, but in the WK-League they didn't have much success: only a 0-0 draw at Incheon as consolation. As a Korean army club, they can't sign overseas players, and (if I'm reading this right) there are no civilians in the team except for 2 coaches(?) Changnyeong (8th) were playing their first season, and only won 2 games. They might take heart from Gyeongju, who debuted in 7th place and have risen to 2nd. Unbelievable – Suwon are in the playoffs without kicking a ball! In the early game there was an upset, WK_League Fan Twitter reports: Changnyeong 2 - Gumi 0. Goals by Park So-ri (박소리) and Son Hwa-yeon (손화연). Changnyeong's third win in the season – and it ends Gumi's season. It was a bit of a bogey team: Changnyeong also beat Gumi 4-3 in July.
Now the regular season's over, the 2nd vs 3rd playoff is on Monday (Oct 29) – Gyeongju v Suwon. In the teams' meeting a few weeks ago, Gyeongju won 4-0. Back in June, Suwon had won there 4-2 away. Since this thread isn't in the women's football section of BigSoccer, it's somehow out of my radar: can I ask someone who follows South Korean League regularly how Fuka Nagano did fare this season? Did she look like she's ready to play in Nadeshiko Japan's Senior NT?
Tonight's winner goes to the final to play 1st-placed Incheon. She's likely to be in the Incheon team in the final, starting this Friday. The WK site has scant information on her season's record, 1 goal, 1 assist, 0 fouls.

Today, Friday, it's the championship game, 1st leg. Available to watch online (and live at 10:00 GMT / 19:00 KST) Final 1st leg: Gyeongju KHNP v Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels 챔프1차전 경주 한수원 vs 인천현대제철 League runners-up Gyeongju are at home in tonight's match. Incheon have had a longer preparation time, more than a week. In Gyeongju Women's second year of existence, they're finalists. Incheon are defending a 5-year run of successive titles. Gyeongju need to rely on their adept strikeforce, and the absence of Incheon's Beatriz, if they want to cause an upset. It's the same venue where Gyeongju won the playoff on Monday (황성3구장). Incheon won there 5-1 and 3-1 this season. The teams' matches at Incheon were tighter (1-0 and 0-0). Wondering if Incheon might add a 6th champions' star to the 5 stars on their logo, or if 6 stars would look silly. But it turns out other clubs are much sillier.

^ Make that the KFA's player of the year. There'll be a new Japanese player in Korea in 2019 – defender Yoshimi Natsuki is transferring from Stella Nojima to Hwacheon KSPO. In mid-December the Korean university draft took place (Player list / video). On the TV side, there's a longform interview with commentator Kwon Yee-eun, who had to retire as a Suwon player due to injury. After ten years of the WK-League, here's a look back at the inaugural season, 2009. You can see a fan video of Suwon v Busan Sangmu (army club, who later became Boeun Sangmu) from an old thread. Per Nadeshiko Japan Official thread (courtesy of @unepommekun), there should be another Japanese player who'll transfer to South Korea: Mayu Ikejiri, who was a record-scorer in Challenge League (Japanese Third Division) this season, and later had been briefly signed by a Second Division team, should play next season in 水原WFC (that I guess translate as Seoul WFC, but anyone here might correct me).
