Hey Guys I know we're 8 months away, but it wouldn't hurt to start a thread now!! (Shit they're bringing Christmas stuff out now and we haven't even gotten to Halloween yet!!:D)

The Copa America that we will be hosting will be from June 14th til July 7th, 2019 in 5 cities: Rio, Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre and Salvador...with Sao Paulo using 2 stadiums(Morumbi and Arena Palmeiras)

This will be the last Copa America that will be held on an odd number year as starting in 2024(in Ecuador) the Copa America and the Euro will take place in the same year. And also this will be 1st Copa since 1993 that Mexico will not take part. But Qatar and Japan will compete as invited guest.

The draw will should take place sometime in December and I'm quite sure that Brazil, Argentina and Chile(though I feel it should be Uruguay) will be the 3 seeded teams.

And our opening match is in Sao Paulo in the Morumbi:cry:

Is there a reason why Mexico is out? I am a little “surprised” as the copa america would be a good business thing for Mexico in terms of TV, etc...
The same can be said of including USA!

I think Mexico offered to take a U23 team or something.

It's a shame the Confederations couldn't work things out, because a combined tournament would have been very good.

Thinking of booking a trip to Brasil for this, but after the last time forget it. Don’t need any more nightmares.

It is indeed. The 2020 edition will take place from June 12 to July 12 - the exact same dates as the 2020 European Championship.

On one hand, soccer overload - more matches to watch during a 30-day period than during the World Cup. On the other, I can't help but wonder if there will be comparisons between the caliber of a France vs. England or a Netherlands vs. Italy on one hand and a Bolivia vs. Venezuela on the other.

Why don't they wait to move it to even years in 2024 ? Why have one in 2020. Just do 2019 and the next one in 2024. It's completely unnecessary and takes the thunder away from the 2019 champion. CONMEBOL a joke as usual.

Marketing. TV rights. Advertising. Merchandise. Alcohol in stadiums.

    MONEY. That's why.

As far as taking the thunder away, 2016 did the same to 2015 in terms of the tournament. Chile however was on a good run and won both. If Brazil wins it next year we'll see if Brazil repeats come 2020. But is it a joke as you say? Most definitely.
