A bit over the top, but I enjoyed it as well. For those of you not familiar with Roger Bennett, check out the Men in Blazers show. It's a skewered look at the Premier League and good for more than a few chuckles. It airs on NBCSN at 5:30 Monday.

Don't look now... cause it could chance if Philly or Columbus come back, but we could host a playoff game if we win at Chicago. We would stay ahead of columbus and pass either Philly if they don't beat NYCFC... or pass NYCFC on GD if they lose to Philly.

Edit... Villa just scored so the GD stuff might not still be true (and it could change)

Don't mention it. As a matter of fact, I'll save you the trouble and avoid any potential detours into the Dark Web:

No need to thank me. Happy to help you out. It was a little tricky to find. It was hit and miss for a while. I had to put in some very specific keywords: "DC United Logo"

I don't think that's the one he's looking for. He wants the one Knave uses as his avatar.

From what I can tell, DCU gets 4th with a win on Sunday regardless of the result in NYCFC/Philly, unless that game is a total goalfest and they get into weird tiebreakers between United and NYC.

I think I'm still right though.
True. There are even other ways to back into 4th like with a tie *if* NYCFC beats Philly and Columbus doesn't overcome an insurmountable GD hole we've put them in.

Just win in Chicago ... Maybe Rooney can ask for a favor from old teammate Schweini ...

For a moment today it looked like the Chicago game would have only a little meaning, which would have opened the door to resting some starters and giving Opare, Deleon, Durkin, Mattocks and Steiber playing time. But now it means a lot, which causes a bit of a problem. If we play Rooney, Acosta and the other starters next Sunday they'll then have to play three-four days later in the elimination game and again the next weekend if we win. It probably comes down to Rooney's decision. If he wants to play against Chicago he will. And if he plays Acosta will play too, assuming he's healthy. I wonder about Canouse - he's got a huge work rate and can he play (another) two games in three-four days and be effective?

They've all been logging LOTS of minutes. Not sure what the mentality is in the team... or what it should be.

Yeah, I've been waiting for the game they gas out and collapse but it's not come yet. There's a real "you can't stop us" vibe with them. I'm a bit fearful if they rest players for Chicago for a playoff run, they'll come back out of sync.

You don't want to change the lineup too much. Just give a normal starter who's nicked up a rest. And start using your subs more.

That's why subbing out Acosta and/or Asad at 80 minutes would have been smart. In Chicago, I'd start Stieber and rest either Segura or Asad. If Acosta needs a rest late, bring on Mattocks and shift Rooney back. If Canouse or Moreno need a breather, use Durkin.

I think the back four defenders (even with NDL at right back) are fine.

Canouse is on freaking point. Without him our defensive cohesion would fall apart and the transition from defense to offensive would lack urgency and would give the other team time to set up. With him we get a defensive stop that turns into a quick transition with numbers heading toward goal.

This is not the DC United I've watched over the last 6-7 years. This is something new, something fun, and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

    Agreed.
Standing in the North End on Sunday, it hit me suddenly: I now *expect* us to win. And I mean *win*, not eek-out lucky victories, but actual "smack-you-in-the-head-and-hand-you-back-your-mouth guard" kind of wins.
Kinda like going to a Haarlem Globetrotters game and not worrying about the Washington Generals somehow getting the win.
We haven't had this feeling since the Jaime-RDA-Diablo era.
    Amazing.

This is the first time since 1998 DC United has had 3 double-digit goal scorers.

They could get 4 if Asad can find the back of the net on Sunday.

A lot of chatter and now a Guardian piece on the interest Rooney is drawing from foreign clubs for his services since turning DC United around. Zlatan is also drawing interest but not to the same degree. My bad feeling is that Rooney enjoys his time here but sees a 20 million payday somewhere and takes it before he retires.

I'm a bit unbelieving at all of this that is happening especially considering where the team was in July.
Don't tell me what was sacrificed to the Soccer Godz for these results. :)

Of course he's Roger Bennett, it says so on the byline, and clearly not a regular because it isn't a regurgitation of team press releases as is the usual. I enjoyed it as well.

While your posts have been entertaining, this is not the logo I’m discussing.

Since nobody has come through on this logo quest... back to your regularly scheduled programming!

I'm sure plenty of raccoons met an untimely fate to make this possible.

That explains the raccoon lost on the city bus this summer. [emoji23]
