I don't think this is precisely how Peru is lining up, but here are Peru's eleven starters. Carvallo, Callens, Ramos (c), Advincula, Loyola; Hurtado, Pena, Tapia, Flores; Ruidiaz, Polo
London, 1991 called, they want their formation back. Anyone catch Japan match last night? I am telling you, watch some U14, U12, U10 soccer in japan and it's pretty much out of sight. Deft touch, intricate runs and passes, non-stop action, never a stop in play. If they ever poach a 6'5 keeper they can go very deep in the WC for many years to come.
Glad to see Sargent get the start. We'll see what Acosta-Marky can do together, I wanted to have the chance. I guess it was either Bradley or Trapp otherwise. It should be enough for a tie, hopefully. Peru is starting mostly a B team.
Like this line-up, gives a bunch of guys a chance to show their stuff. Only repeat starters: Weah and Acosta. On the bench: Horvath, Yedlin, Miazga, Bradley, Brooks, Wood, Picault, Green and Robinson. Hope to see Green and Picault in the second half. Healthy scratches: Saief and Novakovich. Sad to see Novakovich won't get a shot, as he's been playing well. Surprised Saief didn't make the bench, but he had his chance last game.
Gotta admit Gareca has done a superb job with them. He put them again back on the map. His stock right now is very high, it's a puzzle to me how Peru managed to keep him.
Look at his face dude? Two words: Coca-Cola, wait, that's one word, Two Words: Bump n' Roll, wait that's three words. Two Words: Cocaine. Damn, this is harder than I thought.
Amon is, to my knowledge, the first person from my hometown (Charleston, SC) to ever appear for the USMNT. I'm beyond excited to see him get the start and see what he can do.
Well, just when I think this idiot can’t pick a dumber starting 11, he goes and lowers the bar even further. Can this please, please, be the last time we are subjected to this crap??
Novakovich is our only CF that is producing anywhere. Lets see what he can do. Sweat is wasting a cap. No Bradley is good.
Personally, I love the attacking side of the lineup. I'm really excited (in general) about Weah, Sargent, and Amon, so it'll be awesome to watch them all play together for at least a half.
I still think Weah is not a winger. acosta-trapp-delgado? lol....not the center mids i would pick....not optimistic they will light the field up with chances..... glad to see cannon and amon get shots.....
It's a fact of life in US Soccer that any sort of friendly international in the US or home WCQ will always have the built in 30 minute delay for US TV to have a pre-match show draw a few more eyeballs. Away matches and major tournament matches never seem to have this issue, however.
I would have preferred Miazga for Amon so there is passing from the cb line to Trapp to Delgado to the Un-Acosta and a 3rd cb to allow Cannon to get forward. There's going to be possession problems. Fortunately Cannon isn't bad in possession at club.
