Was injured in April of last season, had the operation and missed a bit of this pre-season recovering.
Does anyone know what time the squad is announced? Eager to see if Winks, Cook, Barkley, Hughes or Maddison made it.
I didn't even notice him at all in the first half although I was concentrating more on the Barca players ..
Southgate names his England squad in a bit and I'm told James Maddison will be in it. Well deserved. #lcfc— Matt Law (@Matt_Law_DT) October 4, 2018
Don't know what to make of Rice announcement. I think he's a better option than Henderson but what we need is a DM with great ability on the ball and from what i've seen I don't think he's that type of player

Thoroughly deserved call-up to the England senior squad for @Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount. Southgate a huge fan and FA been aware of him for some time. Excellent at #dcfc on loan this season— John Percy (@JPercyTelegraph) October 4, 2018
Busy day for Gareth Southgate! 😅 See who he's named in the #ThreeLions squad for our next two #NationsLeague games: https://t.co/azRa3ukvBl— England (@England) October 4, 2018
Where do we start with this? I’m more surprised that Chalobah is back in the Squad than Sancho to be honest just for the fact he’s hardly played for Watford and that you would presume RLC is out because he’s hardly played. It’s an interesting squad though
Chalobah is the FA poster boy for moving through the age groups. 5 minutes of Premier League football They just asked that question in the press conference. Southgate makes the point about the youth caps. Justifies it by 180 minutes in the League Cup
BREAKING: Jadon Sancho, Mason Mount, Nathaniel Chalobah and James Maddison all called up to the England squad to face Spain and CroatiaFollow: https://t.co/rq7kTySdMX pic.twitter.com/hVBZ0otagV— Sky Sports Football (@SkyFootball) October 4, 2018 Welbeck is the only thing I disagree with.
Fair play to Southgate, first I'm excited by a squad in a long time. From 0 creativity in the previous squads there's plenty of it in this one. Don't really get Chalobah's inclusion but he's always been a big fan. Sturridge should be in there, I get that he doesn't run enough for Southgate but his ability to score a worldie out of nothing shouldn't be ignored, especially with 4 gk in the squad.
Yeah would have had Sturridge over Welbeck and Coady over Tarkowski tbh. Will Hughes should feel disappointed also
Loftus-Cheek + Chalobah are clearly not competing for the same position though. Southgate obviously wants to see more options to play at the base of the midfield.
Lots of creativity in this squad! Only grumble from me is that I would have found room for Will Hughes by leaving out Welbeck or Bettinelli/McCarthy. Intrigued to see Chalobah but can’t say I’m disappointed. We need to experiment sometimes.
I understand Chalobah only from the perspective that we are very short of true defensive midfielders. Agree that Sturridge is preferable to Welbeck and I would keep faith with RLC. I wonder if he will be in the U21s? Love the picks of Mount and Sancho.Shows that going to the Championship or abroad does not need to hold you back.
have they dropped the ball with their announcements of the other squads? Unless Maddison, Mount + Sancho being promoted have caused a mad shuffle in the age groups below.
Good squad that. No real complaints. Minor issues - Tarkowski has some type of injury that Southgate knows about so maybe he could have been replaced. Hughes should be in the squad in my view but Southgate is all about continuity and has made a decent amount of changes. Sturridge after his injury issues could probably do without the travelling and take the break. Look at him again in the next games if he’s still fit.
