Barkley from what Chelsea fans say has been ordinary . I don't he think will ever become a top player.

Will Hughes is played out of position for Watford and won't be in the reckoning for a call up until he play's in central midfield.

Sturridge hasn't kicked a ball for three years. It's too early for a call up.

Sturridge has been in good form this season playing seven matches and scoring four goals. His match fitness should be fine for a game if he comes on as a sub unless Rashford is deployed as a No. 9.

Why does it matter what Spurs fans think of Barkley? I think with the injuries we currently have, he's proven enough to earn a callup. I wouldn't mind a callup for Maddison as well. Grealish is another one too, but I don't see it happening.

I wasn't aware that Sturridge was in good form . Perhaps he deserves a call up .

As regards Barkley I think you mean Chelsea fans. I have seen Barkley play quite a bit this season and he doesn't influence games enough . He plays too many sideways passes and doesn't impose himself on games. Most of all I don't think he has the football intelligence.

I have never seen Barkley play in the flesh . But an everton fan i know has and has seen him play many times and he says Barkley has no movement off the ball, he just lets game pass him . Reckons he has no chance of becoming a top player

    My mistake with Spurs ;)

I'd build an England team AROUND Grealish !!

You have fundamentally misunderstood the meaning of "paddy fields".

He's not THAT far off to be fair ..

I had high hopes for Barkley years ago but for whatever reasons he simply hasn't progressed .. he's even gone backwards tbh .

Sturridge will always be injury prone just like Jack Wilshere ..

Wasn't Cantona a championship player when ManU took him from Leeds for £1 million ??

    No. He wasn't.

It was the season after Leeds won the league. Unless that is what you mean by championship player.

You are right, of course, but there have been plenty of tier 2 players who have played for England. I still remember Stevie Bull!
It's interesting, but I think there's a lot of good English talent in the Championship right now and you could put together a pretty solid team together. How about this for example: Butland; James, Tomori, Shawcross, Gibbs; Livermore, Dack; Powell, Mount, Grealish; Abraham. There have been worse England teams than that.

    Yep. Plenty of players.

Not quite sure we should build the team around one of them though. Especially one who has no goals and one assist in 11 games this season.

There really have. Heck there have been some from the third tier, like Johnny Byrne. But second tier caps include Kenny Samson, Peter Taylor, Reg Matthews, Rodney Marsh and Bull (Wolves had just been promoted from the old D3 to 2 at the time if I recall correctly). In recent times there's been Butland, Michael Gray, Kevin Phillips, David Nudent and Jay Boythroyd.

Or do you mean there have been worse England teams than the one I suggested!?

Winks has been awful tonight . I don't get the hype with this guy . All he does is play sideways and backwards passes . He can't find space . Pochettino reckons he is the english inesta . Absolute joke .

England's best hope is Will Hughes . Lewis Cook is also better than Winks.

I must admit winks improved in the second half . I will reserve my judgement until he plays more games.

Am I alone in thinking that Will Hughes has more potential ?.

Very wrong. On the contrary Winks is very good at finding players between the lines and playing forward. Going through a rough spell atm, following an injury nightmare that could turn into something as problematic as Wilshere from what I've heard.

Winks did fine. Nothing amazing but with more games he should be OK and he’s looking better the longer games go. That’s a good sign. Hopefully he stays injury free. Wasn’t really the best system or opponent to get the best out of him either when you consider how little game time he’s had so far.

Thought Winks did really well. Hope he gets a call up over Delph.
