Tweede helft
Na de rust wisselde Danny Buijs bijna het hele team. Alleen de in de eerste helft ingevallen Cassierra en doelman Jan Hoekstra mochten blijven staan.

Toch was de eerste kans van de tweede helft voor Groningen. Antuna dolde de halve De Graafschapverdediging, maar Mendes Moreira kon niet tegen de bal aanlopen. De thuisploeg kwam na 55 minuten terug in de wedstrijd door een goal van Thomassen die zich knap vrij draaide.

In het restant van de wedstrijd was FC Groningen nog het dichtst bij een goal, maar Antuna (solo en schot) en Mendes Moreira (vrije trap) waren net niet scherp genoeg.

Cassierra benutte vijf minuten voor tijd een strafschop en bepaalde daarmee de eindstand op 1-3.

Second half
