That's a shame. I didn't see the match but Skipp supposedly played well again yesterday. He seems to be on Pochettino's radar now. More so than Oakley-Boothe. And Curtis Jones scored for Liverpool in a 5-2 win.
Oakley-Boothe was better than Skipp yesterday. I think Skipp is getting a bit overhyped now, as a reaction to him previously being a bit under the radar.
Decent game for Gomes and Greenwood today but Garner stood out for me. Able to change the tempo of the game with his passing and composure. Such a rarity to see an English player like that.
Frank Lampard has been bigging up Jayden Bogle. He's a 2000-born, extremely athletic right back from what I've seen. Is he likely to get a call-up? Lampard also big on Mount, of course.
Yeah, I mentioned Bogle a few weeks ago, I always liked what I saw when watched him. Also there is Max Aarons who is 2000 born and plays right back for Norwich, who's been already in the England squad.
In my opinion, Skipp is the second most underrated player of that year group after Smith Rowe. Oakley Boothe a bit overrated for me but each to their own.
Hudson-Odoi not even on the bench for a home game against Europa minnows. What a disgrace. Should be a pretty huge red flag for CHO about how Sarri thinks about youth
Won't stop him signing a 5-year contract extension though. I see Ampadu has just signed and he also doesn't feature. Smith-Rowe a Nketia on Arsenal bench, however.
Lets hope not, but youre probably right. And so far arsenal not fairing better. Honestly, what has guendouzi done to be ahead of smith rowe?
Oakley Boothe is more talented. He slightly lacks character though, hard to find at times, hopefully that's something he is working on. He's exactly the type of midfielder the seniors need.
I probably rate him the highest out of anyone on here, but there's others I'm sure who do too. For me, I see the light with him and very confidence he can solve our midfielding problem with his talents at senior level once he gets there. When? Could be a year or four.
I thought Smith-Rowe did well in his 20 mins tonight. So direct with his close control. Exactly what Arsenal need really to complement all their neat and tidy sideways passers.
Decent 20 minutes by Smith Rowe. Showed his quality in bursts. Manager seems to rate him. As I mentioned earlier, he's the most underrated for me.
I'm a big fan too. The way he escapes pressure from deep is fantastic. One of the reasons this england u17 team dominated every single team in the world. He was just a bit shy at the world cup, which wasn't a problem for the team but could backfire at pro level, especially in England where engine/presence/character are highly valued.
Agreed. I like his stature too. Hes quite tall and strong for an 18 year old. Once he fills out he could be a good athlete.
Quite interesting because in that star-studded team he was one of the younger ones (?) and really made an impact with 2 goals from what I remember. And didnt he play in the final? He certainly got in ahead of gomes who was previously the captain.
July born, so fairly middle of the pack. Started with the 2nd string v Iraq. Off the bench v Japan (last 16) + Brazil (SF). Goal v Iraq, assist v Brazil. Came off the bench in a few of the Euro games too. Was pretty underwhelming at the Euros, looked powerful + direct at the World Cup. Gibbs-White was who took all of Gomes' minutes. Not sure if he's underrated at this point. Has got a fair bit of hype since going on tour in the summer and he had a big year last year. He's one who's reputation has grown most since the 2017 season, but i'm not sure if that means he was underhyped at the time.
Given our strength in this age group, would you advocate for sending a couple of them to the U21s for the Finals next year, and therefore create some space in the U19s? The likes of Smith-Rowe and Gomes would benefit greatly from starting regularly in a tournament and a creative axis of Smith-Rowe, Gomes and CHO would still be world class at this level. And Foden and Sancho are more than ready for the U21s.
I'm not sure if Foden is more than ready for the U21s. It's unlikely that the U19s will be full strength for the Euros as per usual anyway so I don't think we'll have this concern of too much talent.
This is England's most talented ever age group of players and we need to be patient and smart in how we promote them. There is an argument for keeping them at under 19 for now.
I absolutely would. Why not try and go and win it and take mount and sancho to give them some good experience. That tournament is a whole level up from the u19s. Very tough
