Hahaha Brazil still diving near the end line in a friendly . Their players really are classless trash.
I had been very impressed with Steffan's distributions....his kicks up field had been spot on....not just bombing up the other end to no one.
Well, he was a central midfielder. Just like Alexi Lalas and his fetish for set pieces, being a former center back...
We've never been fun to watch, but at least that second half we didn't act gutless and tried to do something. I see improvement.
Absolutely. This was a more composed performance than many of the previous efforts against Brazil. And the team didn't even bunker as much as I had advocated.
To be fair we missed the WC for the first time in 30 years with MB’s crap leadership at the helm in Trinidad. Seems like a tough place by our standards. Of course it didn’t have to be but that’s another story.
Yeah, for this cycle I really like our CBs, CMs (need a creator, though), Pulisic and Weah. I'm ok with our fullbacks and GKs. I don't like our forwards/wingers apart from Pulisic and Weah. Brooks and Miazga are the prohibitive starters, but I like the Red Bulls CB pairing, and I hope we see them against Mexico (I think Tim Parker could be this cycle's Jay DeMerit), and the young guys CCV and EPB and Glad and Trusty and maybe Zimmerman.
I think Adams is showing a lot more potential in the central midfield than last year at this time, when many thought he would need to slide to fullback full time.
Tonight the US showed that they have not one world class player. The only play the US had was when Brazil decided to sit back and let the US pass it around for a while. We can't play offense and we can't play defense and we lost a game where Brazil did not even really try. We don't need central mids or forwards or defenders we need soccer players and we seem to have none of those that are at a level good enough to play on a quality national team. I do not remember the US ever looking this bad in a friendly. As I said before: I thought we reached our low a T&T but this lack of effort and performance surpassed that low. There was nothing positive about this game except we made US soccer some money.
It was... meh. Cheap penalty, Brazil didn't run roughshod over us, pretty toothless attack, with decent set-pieces, OK play out of the back. We need a real coach to come in and liven up this team with some better attacking ideas, and if we get that, I think we'll be back to pushing Mexico for CONCACAF supremacy.
