would this make LKI's potential exemption more difficult as a u-23 player, as his talented sunbaes will already have exemption and wouldn't be used for wildcard spots?

    Yes and no...

He won't have SHM but he will have the following as eligible teammates:
    Han Chan Hee
    Hwang Ki wook
    Cho Young Wook
    BSH
    JWY2
    LKH2
    Jang GH

Wild card can go to Suk HJ and Lee Chang Min.

That and others that are emerging should round out a very competitive side.

Sounds good on paper. But there since they could have selected HCH, BSH, JGH, Suk for the AG but didn't, they may not pick them again for the Olympics.

Unless a ruptured Achilles heel exempts him from service, Kwon Chang-Hoon will also participate as a wild card. And the Olympic squad only has 18 players, so there may be some painful exclusions.

Due to LSW we keep forgetting about KCH

Isn't our Olympics squad arguably stronger??

    CYW
    JWY LKI KCH
    PSH HCH

    vs

    HUJ
    LSW SHM HHC
    KJM JYH

Also, I didn't know Cho yumin was a midfielder???

I think the Asian game squad was more balanced as we had the likes of Cho as our GK and KMJ in CB.

I found the video of Choi Young Soo who inspired Lee Seung Woo's goal celebration except Choi's was a big fail and sort of became a symbol of how not to celebrate (around 1:50 mark).

For those of you who may not know, Choi was a commentator for SBS for the Asiad and was apparently yelling at Lee to "don't do it."

Some of this year's (domestic) U23 players could also play at the Olympic games, for example Kim Jung Min, Cho Yu Min, Kim Jin Ya or Jang Yun Ho. Add those who didn't make it to the AG squad, like Lee Keun Ho, Hwang Ki Wook, Paik Seung Ho and Han Chan Hee (unless Hakbum drops him again), several players from the current U20 like Lee Kang In, Jeong Woo Young, Uhm Won Sang, Cho Young Wook, Lee Jae Ik and intelligent wild card spots (Kwon as captain, CB and maybe Suk? or a GK like Kang Hyun Moo?). Then we will have a competitive squad for "project LKI's exemption".

I have a feeling that KCH will be military exempt after this injury. It's just too severe to not warrant exemption. That's why I left him off the list.

He's going to start playing in the K-league next season and is the right age. If he can get back on track, this is his age group squad...

Just didnt impress while at La masia and failed to get serious consideration into the pro barca teams . Went to a low-table greek club where he similarly failed to impress (although he did score a nice goal for their u-21) . Probably getting this k league chance on the power of his time at la masia . He has been pretty forgotten.

im pretty sure it does. Knee tears are exempt. They are harder to repair but easier to rehab. Achilles tears are easy to repair but harder to rehab. I feel like most atheletes with achilles tears usually never come back to 100%. Feel bad for the kid.

Some knee tears weren't in the past. That's why we worried over HJH since he had a MCL tear rather than an ACL tear. It's quite silly really since a complete Achilles rupture is worse than an ACL tear imo (granted tearing my ACL sucked)...

thats what i thought might be the case. in which case, it forces him to have to start his service by his 27th birthday, so it kinda makes it worse in a way.

It's probably better for him to get delayed vs. getting a really bad tear. Think of it that way. :( A very bad tear is probably exempt but it would curtail his career.
