IMO Son did very well today even if he was more a supporter than finisher. He also had 2-3 chances at the goal besides his two very important assists. He's playing like PJS in this AG squad. I don't think he's in bad form but rather tired (I mean considering his program with WC and stuff, it was a heavy year for him). He's saving his energy because he knows he has to play every game until the final.
I think SHM has had a very average tournament based on individual performance, but he adds value in that whenever he gets the ball, the opponent scuttles around him, and that opens up space for players like HEJ, KJY and LSW to run into. Would be nice if he were a bit less selfish at times. There are moments when he completely cuts off the attack by dragging possession or trying dribble moves. Not to mention that weird marseille turn he attempted where he lost the ball which could have been disastrous. I definitely thought HEJ and SHM performances would be switched.
Yet, he is so important for the moral and his leadership has surprised me positively. He's become very mature.
I dont know what you guys expect from Son when he has to track all the way down to help the defenders + play Eriksen's role. He must be really tired from running all over the place. I am wondering what he can do when he can just play as a pure LW. But his mistake that almost led to conceding + terrible ball touches/dribbles were unacceptable..
This is a bit of an overexaggeration. The dude was on and off when he was in the K-League 1 and 2. There were days when he could score 1-2 goals and there were days when he was frustrating to watch (missing easy chances, too many touches just to get a shot off, etc).
LSW needs to start next game, and the team should play around him in the midfield. He was creating chances very effectively down the middle with his dribbles and one twos. NSH wasn't bad but there's no question that LSW was way more effective. Start LSW as the 10.
So I had a soccer game last night and on the other side of the field were a bunch of old Vietnamese guys and I said you guys ready for the match on Wednesday??? And they started laughing and said "Yeah! The Korean coach make us win all the games!!" I then talked about how Korea has to win for the military exemption and then they said, "we cannot beat Korea, their attack too strong. they even bring Son!!!" but they said it should be a great match since they think they have the best defense in the entire tournament.
KHB said he has to watch his condition right before the Vietnam match to decide if he is able to play or not. Same with JYH.
Goalkeeper Cho Hyun-woo returned from his left knee injury and was fully involved in final team training ahead of Korea’s Asian Games semi-final match against Vietnam. Midfielder Jang Yoon-ho, still nursing an ankle injury, was not available to train.— Steve Han • 한만성 (@realstevescores) August 28, 2018 according to this, he should be able to play vs Vietnam
