Chicago having a hard time closing out games, but at least they got the better part of the 3-way trade (i.e., Kerr for Press).

Wasn't Press listed as a CF last night? She's not having a good year to be honest. Utah looked a little bit better when she wasn't there. It might have something to do with her playing wing over someone who is more natural at that position. Harvey needs to ditch Rodriguez and just let press play forward for a full game. I don't care about the goal last night because it was a gift.

    60' 0-0 Orlando subs in (1 of 3) #2 Sydney Leroux for #9 Camila.

61' 0-0 Leroux jumps backward for a header at circle left, flattens Zerboni. Foul. At it already :D

62' 0-0 Quick restart, NC chips to Debinha through box top left. Krieger chases her down at 3m 6-left, slide-pokes ball over endline left, Debinha trip-sprawls over her leg.

62' 0-0 NC left ck, to 5m 1/3 left, S.Mewis heads over bar onto roof, calls a touch -- not given.

63' 0-0 Dunn lunges forward for a ball while looking over her shoulder, runs self into Weatherholt backpedaling, bounces down and away -- gently assisted by Weatherholt giving a two-handed shove to the chest. Foul on Weatherholt: she says: "ON ME??"

    66' 0-0 North Carolina subs in (1 of 3) #8 Denise O'Sullivan for #14 Jessica McDonald.

70' 0-0 Hinkle dribbles to 25m box left, backs down Hill, cuts toward box left and trips over Hill's foot. Foul.

71' 0-0 Debinha fk at 25m box left, inswings to 6m 1/5 right. S.Mewis tracks it sidestepping from spot, hop-heads down to goalline center, Harris dive-saves with ball half-over, claws it out wide left, Krieger clears. Debinha collects at 25m left touch, crosses high to 5m center, Harris catches high in traffic.

72' 0-0 NC ground cross from box box left foot to left post low, Harris collects and brings ball out to 6-top center ... then goes down on one knee and stays down. Trainers, brief stoppage, Kopmeyer is up. All get water.

    74' 0-0 Harris resumes with a punt.

75' 1-0 Erceg intercepts, outlets to O'Sullivan at circle left. O'Sullivan dribbles to circle top, passes ahead of Ln.Williams veering down wide right. Williams turns to 10m box right, 1-v-2 vs. Zadorsky and Edmonds. Simple right-outstep hard cut down mid-right beats Zadorsky to 0.5m mid-right, Williams crosses back to -- but ball deflects off Zadorsky's right lower shin goalward, wrong-foots Harris near post, deflects again off Harris's left hand reaching back and in, and bounces twice in goal into back left low. That should properly be an o.g. on Zadorsky, since Williams's cross was away from goal.

81' 2-0 Debinha receives at circle back right, hoofs long toward box top left for Ln.Williams in circle front, 1-v-3 but isolated laterally on Krieger. Williams wins that race, turns down wide left, cuts inside through 6m box left but ball rattles off both of them. Krieger tries to shield ball over at 1m mid-left -- meanwhile, Debinha arrives at 6m mid-left. Williams hooks self around Krieger, facing into field, digs ball through Krieger's wicket to Debinha. Debinha touches once to 6-top 7-left, blasts right foot rising across mouth, golaaaazo into 1/4 right back high past Harris's left hand flapping.

84'08" 2-0 Van Egmond left ck, inswings tight to 2m right post. Leroux jumps leaning rightward, takes a bump that increases her lean, twist-heads straight up(?), lands on right side in right endzone and head impacts Krieger's left knee/thigh, undercutting Krieger. Ball cleared into near touch. Leroux stays down on side. Stoppage for head injury

84'15" 2-0 Leroux rolls over to forehead-both knees tripod, stays that way. Trainer arrives.

85'17" 2-0 Leroux sits up, sags down.
85'37" 2-0 Leroux stands up, walks unassisted with trainer around corner flag.

    86'36" 2-0 Marta left throw-in.

88' 3-0 Off that throw-in, ball pings around midfield. Edmonds nods to Van Egmond, she half-volleys upfield, to Erceg's chest. Erceg shakes Weatherholt, outlets to Debinha at circle back mid-left. Debinha turns away from Van Egmond, passes square right to O'Sullivan, she passes inside-out to Hamilton at 27m wide left -- meanwhile, Ln.Williams jogs through 28m arc right. Hamilton backs Krieger down to 15m mid-left, backpass to Debinha at arc top 6-left. Debinha passes to S.Mewis at 25m arc right, she passes to Mathias unmarked at arc top box right. Mathias touches to box top right, chips a cross to 8m 1/3 right. Kennedy jumps straight up at 9m right post but ball continues past well over her head, Williams reads it better and pops a free header softly into right side netting 2/3 high, with Harris stranded motionless at goalline center.

FT 3-0. North Carolina plays out the string as the spoiler from the top :ninja:

Re: UTA: Did I miss some news about Elise Thorsnes? Was she released? I did not see her on the roster for UTA nor did I see her name on the Injured/absence/INT'L duty list. Just curious.....

Yes, it was recently mentioned on the Utah Royals thread on the men's boards: we tried to create another thread here and to invite them to join, but the traffic there is simply better than here, so, if you want to take part to all the discussions about Utah Royals, you'd better watch that thread.

Only 18 players can suit up for game day. Considering how far she's fallen down the depth chart, I wouldn't be surprised if she gets waived after the season.

Can anyone deny the Courage the championship this year?
They look pretty unstoppable. Three goals in 13 minutes is ridiculous.

Seattle looked really unstoppable in 2014. In a one-off game, anything can happen. And if the weather hadn't intervened, I think Orlando probably would have won this game.

Having said that, the odds are heavily stacked in the Courage's favor. If any team is finally able to break the shield curse, this is the best team to do it.

So, who gets player of the week? We had three players with braces: K. Johnson for SB, Huerta for Hou, and Kerr for Chicago

Of those three, I'd give it to Johnson. Scoring two goals for SB is a bigger deal that scoring two goals for Hou or Chicago. And by a fraction of an inch Johnson missed a hat trick.

But I'd probably vote for Daly of Houston for player of the week. A couple of assists and just being a whirlwind of activity.

All of NC's goals were scored after Denise O'Sullivan was subbed in. Sully rampages on!

Yikes! I'm glad I didn't watch that Sky Blue game live. I can't believe they were so close to winning and still couldn't! That has to have some effect on the players and coach. I feel really bad for them now, I wonder if they'll ever get a win this season.

Yes, she has really shinned since joining the Courage.
Makes you wonder what the heck Houston is doing.
How many other Houston players would break out on another team. LOL!

Yeah, Orlando must not have packed Wheaties for their trip. The Courage came out more or less the same as they had Saturday night, but Orlando lost a step somewhere along the way. They were pushing hard for a goal when the weather suspension hit.

It was pandemonium in the press box at Sahlen's Stadium. We were in our second delay - before it became an outright suspension. Normal press box decorum took a break after Utah scored.

This might be a bit of a homer pick, but why not Williams? She was involved in all 3 NC goals- forced the OG, assisted on Debinha's goal (after working her butt off to win the ball from Krieger) and scored a goal for herself. And she had a very strong game without taking those goals into account.

Possibly so. With NC expected to win every game, we perhaps don't credit individual excellence as much for NC -- because it is expected.

I'd still vote for Daly. She is the engine that makes Houston run. And Houston does run, and run, and run.....

It's 9:50 in the East and the NWSL was supposed to make an announcement about SEAHOU at 9:30 for the 10:30 start and still nothing.

How can it be that the NWSL management never improves?

Don't people commute from outside into the city for games that the announcement is scheduled only an hour before KO?
