Starting a new thread solely for Tyler.

    From the linked piece:

It’s possible that the 19-year-old could be sold to Leipzig in the summer transfer window and loaned back to New York for the remainder of the season or that he could be sold to the Bundesliga side in the winter transfer window in January.

Completing the transfer now and then loaning Adams back to New York for the remainder of the MLS season would make the US international eligible to play for Leipzig as soon as New York are eliminated in MLS, which could be as early as the end of October. If the parties wait until the winter transfer window to complete the deal, Adams will not be eligible to play for Leipzig until January.

This feels like the exact same story that was reproted earlier this year bar the Marsch move.

I laughed out loud at "Six sources have told MLSSoccer.com". So much going on in that sentence.

Yea I thought the same. Probably the same sources from the rumor back several weeks ago.

That was funny. Not “several”, not “multiple”. Six. Exactly six. :D

And the fact that it's MLS reporting that they have six sources. Like, guys, your organization literally has to approve these transfers. The fact they need six sources when they work for the main one is mind-boggling.

I thought this was a done deal already. The only question is does he transfer now and get loaned back, or transfer at the end of the MLS season.

Yep, that's the same story that was published Wednesday. Still waiting on an official announcement.

Adams played very well yesterday in Vancouver. A nearly all-touch video: https://streamable.com/v91eq

Starting to really get excited about the partnership between a deep-lying Adams and box-to-box McKennie and I'm also thinking that there really is no need for Michael Bradley to play in the next two friendlies.

So much for the "Adams cant pass" canard. He has begun, of late, to drop dimes all over the field. And this game was no exception. He should have had at least a hat trick of assists. His passing has improved immensely this year.

You realize that Don Garber doesn't run MLSsoccer.com. While the website is the official site of the league, it isn't like Don Garber himself is feeding them info. I worked for the MLS website for 6 years. We don't get any inside info.

Kind of interesting to note the contrast between folks here (i.e., in the Yanks Abroad forum) and the folks in the MLS Flavor of the Week thread in the USA Men forum, who have already written Adams off as a CM and seem at best guardedly optimistic that he can contribute as a right back.

The secret is that no one on the USA Men's forum actually watches MLS.

Those that watch Adams know he has made a huge leap in development as a CM this season.

Oh, agree -- I'm a RBNY fan and see quite a bit of him. He's better (and getting better every week) as a CM, he says wants to play CM, and both Red Bulls and USMNT need him more at CM.

Transfermarkt updated some market values last week. Adams is now at €1 million, tying him for third among American teenagers with Weah and behind (obviously) Pulisic and McKennie.

It's more than double the next domestic teenager, Wan Kuzain.

I’m still surprised we haven’t heard anything more. It seemed pretty well confirmed by the sources that came out with the news it was just a matter of when.

    I’m still convinced it happens.

Really? More than Carleton, Durkin, or Lindsey? Transfermarkt continues to be a poor evaluator of talent...

I'm sure they just use an algorithm rather than individually rating players, given how many players are in their database. Plus, all players aren't updated at once, so a recently updated young player will probably have a higher value than one who hasn't had an updated value in a while. When Lindsey was last updated, for example, he hadn't yet played an MLS game, so his value was bound to be lower than someone who had.

    That's the simple explanation.

Their algorithms are still mostly-useless then. It's whatever. They're a good database. They're just not great evaluators of "value". It didn't stop me from using them in my thesis.

This guy is a key piece of his team, that he plays for every game and is currently doing very well. not to mention the USMNT appearances he has gotten and will probably continue to get. I would put him a little ahead of these other players. As well as current form, which is pretty good. Not knocking any other players, just that he has broken through and is ripe for the picking.
