    Isnt fault of the team.......

The best goalies of that generation are Vargas, Castellanos and Cuadrado......very mediocre ones

The goalkeeper position is one of the hardest in football. It can be really tough for a team to give the starting position to a 20 or even a 22 yo. Experience is essential for a goalkeeper, and it's a shame for me to say that I understand the FPC teams, but if they want the young goalkeepers they have to get better they MUST give them the chance to play to gain the experience they so desperately need.

It is a chicken or egg thing... If you see a young keeper with enough talent, you give him the car keys right away... but if not, experience is the difference maker.. but you don't gain experience unless you play every week...

I'm not knowledgeable enough about Colombian soccer to say there are no talented young keepers, but it seems there are not obviously extraordinary talents that deserve to start above the usual suspects.. so....

GK a hard spot not like they get injured or gets subbed out regularly

I am very happy how many young Colombians are getting a shot in 1st divison. 2nd div is hard to follow here in the US but think 8 of them are getting solid minutes if at least 1 of them becomes good that would be awesome.

So.... The New coach of DIM is from Ecuador. Octavio Zambrano. Hopefully good? He seems to be successful and known In the MLS. In Colombia he's already coached Deportivo Pereira, and he broke the record of points in a single semester for the second division.

Apparently he's been given the task to promote youth players, and I Hope that he's given enough time to do It. DIM has some very special talent in in the youth teams. Just a few names, Andrés Rodríguez, Juan Lobo, Brayan Carabali, Juan Cuesta, the last one is in my opinion a potential NT player in the long term, around 5 to 6 years. He's in my top 5 of Colombian U-17 talents, along with Andrés Arroyo, Gian Franco Cabezas, Dylan Borrero and Juan Alegría.

apparently managed Canada's NT. I have no clue who this guy is.

worth a shot though, better than going with Bernal or one of the usual suspects

if you ask me... The only colombian coaching in the FPC that I'd give a chance in the NT would be Alberto Gamero, he probably isn't the most qualified but he has balls, and not Pinto's supposed balls, I'm talking about taking risks when it's needed. He is probably the least cowardly of all.

If he hadn’t failed at Junior maybe

But saying that what about Alexis Mendoza he was Ruedas #2. So has some
NT experience. Wanted him for the youth team

He failed at junior because the team they gave him was crap and the time he was given wasn't enough. He has won titles with the other two Liga Aguila teams he has coached. If only he had been given a full 6 months to coach the team instead of firing him and giving Comesaña the team for the 15th time you could say that he was given a fair shot.

Also if we go by your standards Alexis Mendoza also failed at Junior so he doesn't even deserve a shot with the U-20.

Can I ask you guys that live in Colombia, why is attendance continuing to trend down so much? How is it that for a soccer rich country with 50million people, they can't average more than 8k to a match? Even Atl Nacional seems to be pulling in less than half of what they were doing a few years back? Most of the other stadiums are only pulling in about 15-20%.

Is it that there is a lack of marketing and/pr promotion or the way packages are sold/put together, cost, or security, infrastructure to get to the games or what? Is the Dimayor not working closely with the clubs to tackle some of these dwindling numbers. I mean ultimately it affects everyone's pocketbook - the clubs, the players, the tv rights, the fans, the ultimate product....

I get the fact that there is a ton of content on tv and sometimes it's better to stay at home but even the MLS who started out really small with tiny draws has managed to put together an attractive product that sells, even if they're futbol isnt at the highest level, the atmosphere and experience they are providing continues to grow and improve. This is in a country that also has a ton of resources but also fights with other major professional sports.

People don't have money to pay for the tickets. Also the supposed spectacle that the football should be has been declining lately. Nacional particularly has a very worrying trend, very big wages and very few decent performances, besides, they have the most expensive tickets in Colombia.

Ok but people have never really had money to pay for tickets. No difference today than 20-30 years ago. I would even make the argument that there is a higher (albeit still small) middle class today than there was back then.

If by 'supposed spectacle is declining', you mean the product on the field is of less quality now than it was even 5 years ago, that's hard to judge. In theory, in that same amount of time, we've had many Colombian clubs reach last 16 stages in Copa Sud and Copa Lib, so we know the talent still exists. I do understand the drop off for Atl Nacional but this is a team in latter stages of CL and a team who still managed to make the final of it's league, so while one could justify a drop in attendance, more than half, is a bit overdone.

Is there little promotion for matches? Is the 'fan' experience pre-game not ideal?

Really? Every once in a while they would show the Chilean league and they would look worse, nearly empty stadiums.

So other than support the local team by showing up and proving a constant support with songs, chants, etc., do the "barras" provide more good than bad? I mean do you think are the barras are the main reason for the violence in and out of the stadiums and/or for providing an environment that's too toxic for families that would pay for their tix otherwise? TV rights, branding and sponsorship is definitely where the big money is but you lose leverage when you can't justify that your product can't even bring people to the stadium.
