In all honesty, I've never seen him get pushed off the ball in all of his time in Spain. I think his biggest problem is the consistency of his form, I guarantee Villarreal see his high moments and says ok we have a real difference maker here. Then they see the inconsistency and say ok, we're not going to reward him until he becomes consistent. Which is how all younger players should be treated.
Just pointing out two separate processes. He's not a case for the broken American development model. I'm looking forward to continuing to follow his progress, his growth as a player in the last year still excites me.
I haven't heard much, I'm extremely curious to see how all of this pans out with the rules that Villarreal B has to live by. I am still quite certain that he cannot play in Spanish Division matches with Villarreal B as they do not allow foreign player spots. He must be in the plans of Villarreal or they would not have signed him to a two-year deal. I do think it's important to note that after 5 years of living in Spain you can be claimed as a non-international. His two year deal with the yellows puts him at 23. He arrived at 18, the math tends to say that they value him but don't think he is worth one of their three international spots at this time which is not something anyone should be ashamed of. Breaking into a top 6 La Liga side with the deepest academy outside of La Masai is an impressive feat.
Kinda big news today. Dario just posted he’s leaving the club. Kinda sad for those of us who have watched him play the last three years at Villarreal
Mukwelle at Villarreal is like my brother in law still living at home a year after college. Gonna get a whole lot of side-eye until he moves out.
Chuca goes on a season-long loan to Eleche, Franco Acosta moves back to Uruguay, and Dario makes the move to Atletico Madrid (Very Surprising). Pau and Pedrito stay with B to fight for first team minutes. Mukwelle seems to be on a similar path as this group but a year behind...... This is going to be a very interesting year for him. Kinda sad to see the gorguets move on
He’s 21, so if he’s really a year away from B team minutes or a move another Segunda Division/B squad then that’s...not very inspiring.
The first post of this thread was 4 years and 3 months ago. After 51 months, we're hoping he might be in a position to get loaned out or be on the B team. In a year! I don't think he's Las Vegas Lights bound, but clearly Villareal isn't the place for him to get first team minutes. This seems like Sebastian Lletget 2.0. Perhaps he should follow Lletget's lead. Akale's hometown team - which didn't exist in MLS when he left for Spain.- could probably use a No. 10 to play around and behind all those flank mids and forwards they have. And if not there, anywhere else but Villareal.
He was just signed to a two year deal and has played more professional minutes than 99% of our prospects currently. This is how Villarreal develops there talent. Mukwelle won’t see MLS or the states for years to come.
