I know the vast majority of people on here are decent football fans who would not ripoff fellow fans. However I have noticed at least three prominent ticket touts on facebook during the World Cup are also very active here. The touts in question are Shubhayan Mukarjee whom I believe is in California Peter Kapusi in Hungary Ruza Meior (don't know where he is based) All were very active during the rcent World cup selling tickets at vastly inflated prices. Now all three are very active on here. Looking back through their previous posts they have attempted to buy high value games with all sorts of sob stories. they have also used this site to get rid of low demand games albeit at Face value or less. Now I appreciate there is a Zero tolerence to touting on here. However should we also ban prominent ticket touts. Thoughts and opinions?
Your best bet is to quote and link the posts in questions, although if they were selling outside of BS I don't know how BS would do anything.
They were selling on facebook. They haven't done anything wrong on here just looking for tickets and offloading at face. I have screenshots.
that's the kind of work I like to see. I'm not an admin here and wouldn't want for you or me to get in trouble. Maybe ask @Paul Calixte who I believe was monitoring the threads before about pointing and shaming people.
They are publicly touting on facebook using their real names. I'm not quoting any Big Soccer IDs here. However I feel people should know. There is an assumption on here that if you sell a ticket it will not end up with the touts.
Biggest no-no in my opinion should be buying at FV here, selling above FV elsewhere. That should grant an automatic ban, no discussion. "Dumping" their unwanted tickets here for FV or less is not a crime in my opinion.
That and the fact it would mean that the person is evil, scamming asshole I would like to invite everyone to this topic, please take a moment to leave some feedback... if you sold your spare ticket to someone and another (unrelated) person ended sitting next to you, that's a red flag and you should let us know.
For us mods, this is a squishy question that we have been figuring out how to deal with. While dealing with obvious touts is very easy, those who are more manipulative are more difficult. We are also care to avoid a public shaming, such as posting screen shots publicly, which can and has easily led to more serious issues, and in the past has had members quit because they thought mods did not back them up, when it was difficult to assess who was being truthful and who was not. All that said, we also know that touts use Facebook and WhatsApp and other non-BS means to actually price and sell the tickets that they say, here, they are selling for face value. It is something we are discussing how to deal with as we believe most BS members operate in good faith.
Yes. Just meant to clarify that I meant "best bet" as evidence of wrong doing. Because calling people out with no evidence of anything would lead no where like any other allegation anywhere. I know it wasn't clear when I wrote it. Still not sure if it is.
Even with "evidence" we are not the police so we don't have full access to all avenues to interpret the info provided. For example, it is possible to fake a screenshot, fairly easily, if some sort of revenge in on the cards. That is a single example of why it can be difficult.
I'm not advocating we get the police involved. I've provided the Big Soccer usernames to another moderator. You can easily find these touted tickets. I'm advocating that ticket touts should not be allowed on this site. So known promient touts should be banned. Indeed if the mods were to view the pages in question they may well recognize a few others on here.
Way to really just go out there and make it completely farcical. That is not what I meant nor how it should have been taken and you know that.
