And another week of MLS action is nearly upon us. Wednesday sees a pair of games this week to get us started. As always keep it NEUTRAL in the N&A game thread. All times are Eastern. Games can be seen on everyone's favorite & error free streaming platform ESPN+, national TV games are noted. Wednesday July 11 NYC vs MTL 7:00PM CHI vs PHL 8:30PM Saturday July 14 NYC vs CBS 7:00PM NYR vs SKC 7:00PM MTL vs SJE 7:30PM NER vs LAG 7:30PM DCU vs VAN 8:00PM *Audi Field Opener* FCD vs CHI 8:00PM MIN vs RSL 8:00PM ORL vs TFC 8:00PM COL vs HOU 9:00PM Sunday July 15 ATL vs SEA 2:00PM FOX LAF vs POR 6:00PM ESPN
I know DC/Vancouver isn’t exactly a glamorous matchup, but how is DC opening up their stadium not on national TV?
Yeah, you'd think TSN would have wanted to show this game after the World Cup final on Sunday. Then again I'm sure Fox looked at this opportunity and said no. In hindsight now that DC signed Rooney, this would be a much easier match to hype after the WC Final. Rob Stone and Lalas would hype the ever loving shit out of Rooney's debut and the opening of Audi Field. Instead we get to see a full house in Atlanta play Seattle and hear all of the nat team fans bitch and moan that Carleton isn't playing over Almiron, Villaba, and Barco.........ho hum.
Congrats to DC! After just finishing watching the NY ping pong derby i’m ready to chip in $20 to help NYCFC build something half as god as Audi Field.
So, on Tuesday they will have the academy finals streamed live on Youtube. U16/17 starts at 5:00 pm Sounders vs Atlanta United U18/19 starts at 7:30 pm Galaxy vs NYCFC
#MLSRefStatsTeam by Team Midseason ReportIn this thread, you will find statistics for all MLS teams for the current season and all-time (includes playoff games). The three defunct teams are also included for the sake of comparison.— MLS Referee Stats (@MLSRefStats) July 9, 2018 A little light reading for you.
Great! So we won't be hearing any of this "halfway through the season" stuff at the All-Star "break." Both of those quoted phrases irk me every time they are used incorrectly.
Raccoons want no part of the groundhogs around Buzzard Point. I expect a stand to fall in on itself not because of some secret cabling and tunnels but because of groundhog burrowing. When you realize PEPCO, MPD, Coast Guard and Homeland Security let those things be, you know they're not to be ********ed with.
It looks like NYC FC maybe be celebrating tonight. "New York City Football Club, the Major League Soccer franchise owned by the Yankees and a royal billionaire from Abu Dhabi, may have finally found a site for its own stadium." https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/11/nyregion/nycfc-stadium.html
Montreal Impact vs NYCFC on TSN tonight. It's a rare treat to get to see the Impact on tv in Canada, as they are usually only on the French sports channel that no one gets. Montreal have 5 Canadians in the starting lineup which means they will be smoked. Shamit Shome, a Canadian generation adidas player drafted last year (previously from FC Edmonton) gets his first MLS start.
I enjoy the odd visit, but I wouldn't be able to afford seats regularly that I purchase as a one-off, which I think would negatively impact my in-stadium experience. Contrast that with Red Bull Arena, where there isn't a bad seat no matter the price point.
As for this game, NYC has turned up the heat a bit. A couple of pretty nice saves by Bush have kept this game tied, early in the 2nd half.
