    Meanwhile,
61 and 27 on top of the group with wins over 8 and 12.
8 first team knocked out of the group. 12 must win to advance.

I think Colombia will beat Senegal on the evidence so far.

Yea, I would agree with that. James looked back in form. Cuadrado and Falcao are no slouches either. They ooze quality in attack; and unapologetic chicanery in defense.
Hopefully Japan goes for the win... the group is there for the taking. But I don't have a lot of faith in Japanese athletes to put a foot on their opponents' throat and mercilessly crush them.

If Japan had won the Senegal game, I would've thought they could then have used the substitutes against Poland and given experience as well as rest the starters but oh well.

They really are, but reflecting every result naturally makes them volatile during tournaments: https://www.eloratings.net/
Quite some shuffling already happened due to the WC results so far. Poland fell by 7 ranks, Japan rose by 11.

Edit: Instead looking at the ranking changes for every game (which I did for the above numbers) I see there's also a page covering the duration of the WC: https://www.eloratings.net/2018_World_Cup

And that's how you do things right, but I guess FIFA isn't interested.

France is playing their best WC match so far against Argentina. With Mbappe in particular destroying the slow Argentinaian defence.

    Congratulations in advance @Saku²

I think maybe one of France, Croatia, Belgium and Uruguay. All these sides have been impressive thus far.

After Japan departure (whenever it will happen) I'll root for Croatia and Modric for the Ballon d'Or.

Shameful display from Colombia. I'm wanting them to win because England are our rivals but......jeez this is brutal

I'm rooting for Russia, Uruguay and Sweden now.

Belgium I wish nothing good for, and I have no interest of seeing France, England, Brazil in a final.

Croatia why not, but they are almost as big favorites as Belgium and England now.

Well done Japan. I just wish you could park the bus after the second goal in your Belgium game. Overall a good performance by Japan.

The WC proved that Takeshi Okada is not the only coach that Japan educated. It showed there are other good Japanese coaches beside him.

Somehow this had made me feel much better about Japan's loss.

Brazil aren't really great this WC. I still think France or maybe England will win. France's immense squad depth will see them through imo.
