Another year and yet more exciting talent coming through. The phasing out of third party deals and the continuing strength of the B team system continuing to allow our youngsters to be given a chance against men.

This season I'm personally interested in the progress of Rui Pedro, Jose Gomes and Bragas Pedro Neto. Three strikers wih loads of potential and hopefully lots of opportunities.

My prediction is , none of em
Will become anything more than mediocre. The best they can hope for is to be a bench player on besiktas.

Portugals youth are all overrated and Jorge Mendes is successfully peddling them across Europe like a cigano selling shitty towels in Lisbon. All that money lines LFV pocket. Especially overrated , is the mendes-linked "talent" coming out of seixal

    Even England has surpassed us.

Where is the next cristiano ronaldo ?

Seems like benfica may lose their best talent from the academy Umaro Embalo.

The kid has everything required for a top top winger. The best I've personally seen since Bruma, unfortunately his agent is Catio Balde. I hope he's learned his lessons from the Bruma, Moretto, Idrissa, this kid needs to stay at Benfica. Physically he is still small and while he is strong on the ball he would get belted around in England.

There's a story about Lucas Gomes on the Portuguese Football Federation website.

    http://www.fpf.pt/pt/News/Todas-as-notícias/Notícia/news/15639/contextid/390

Born in Brazil, has a Portuguese grandparent.

"Nascido no Brasil, mas com um avô português, Lucas Gomes não esconde "uma felicidade imensa por vestir a camisa de Portugal". "Estou a viver um sonho.

This kid is very highly rated and heavily linked with Manchester United.

Quite peculiar how barren this this thread is considering the vast amount of quality youths emerging. I'm guessing its because it isn't easy to garner footage to truly assess these young players which i have access too. I would love to spread my knowledge on players I myself believe are the real deal.

    1. Joao Felix
He is without a doubt the best Portuguese prospect since Cristiano Ronaldo. He is better then what Bernardo Silva was at the same age. Expect him to break into benficas lineup this season. His nimble feet, incredible vision, astute finishing and tactical awareness is breathtaking. With every match he leaves me salivating for more. I just hope his good looks don't lead him down the wrong path and he can concentrate on his football

    2. Joao Carvalho
He just recently signed for Nottingham Forest. Expect him to be a revelation just like Ruben Neves was last season. I honestly would not be suprised if they gained promotion this season. It is truly incomprehensible how benfica could let such a class player leave.

    3. Jorge Fernandes
Could be the answer to the cb problem. At a towering height of 1.94m he truly seems the real deal. I feel he will definately be part of Porto's squad this season after a successful loan deal. Maybe he can get a call up this year if he breaks into the Porto starting eleven. He doesn't seem slow either which is a physical trait usually associated with people over 6 feet. I myself played cb in my youth and despite looking very promising according to my coaches and physically dominating at 1.96m, i was much too slow and clumsy to ever make any serious professional football breakthrough. I hope Fernandes takes advantage of his physical prowess.

Anyways, that all for now. Hope to see this thread much more active

Why did Porto let João Felix go a few years back.

Jota has so much talent, I can see him stepping up, but H.Costa is very limited.

I like to see these young promising players. I really hope a few of them become stars in the future. Also, it would be great if Ruben Dias and Jorge Fernandes become a CB pairing like Godín and Giménez for Uruguay. CB is still my main concern going forward.

One thing that is very noticeable, he has wayyyyyy to much time on the ball in every video sequence.. as he progresses and moves up levels, i can only hope he realizes he will not have that luxury and will get his legs taken out.. absolutely embarrassing the other teams he goes up against, though it isnt his fault.

Similar to Renato Sanches, huge upside and very unique qualities for their respective positions but some big weaknesses which can be their downfall.

I really like Rafael, he’s the first Portuguese style striker we’ve had since playboy Dani.
