They had outrageous help from the ref. That was a drop dead obvious PK at the end. I fault the people decrying spain for being boring when Russia was the epitome of anti-football. THOSE people are ********ing morons.
Unbelievable . I have always mixed feeling when the "better team" still loose due to an "all defense" strategy. I hope we will not have to many game like this going forward. It is only "interesting" ( to an extent ) if it is your national team playing. I hated when Greece or Portugal won the Euro with that kind of strategy ( it felt underhanded ) . Still penalties can be fun once in a while, congrats to Russia ! They made the best of what they had.
The only way to stop it is to call penalties for clear penalties. defend the whole time? You better be spotless.
Badly kicked penalties in both sides. Can't believe De Gea could not stop any of those down the middle penalties. We may have a new world cup finalist on that side of the bracket!
Well....that half of the draw is there for the taking. Gonna be interesting, given that Croatia and Colombia have been playing some terrific football.
Russia is a team that got spanked by Uruguay lol. They’ll be brutally destroyed by athletic teams like France and even Brazil could do well.
What an amazing game by Russian football team and that last penalty save by Igor Akinfeev This world cup is really a lot surprising Germany, Spain, Argentina, Portugal are all out
I agree - I said way back in this thread that Spain had zero pace like Germany and would have to grind this out. They couldn't. Russia would get torn apart by France or Brazil
Tikk Takka is boring and doesnt work anymore. Hope they learn it from now on. Spain did nothing as well..keeping the bal possession in middlefield against a team who is all in defense, is not a bug deal. If Spain was that good to deserve to win, they would have scored a goal and win. They didnt, and they had plenty of time for it.
clearing the way for a win by Russia. If Croatia or Denmark think they've got a chance of getting past Russia, well, that's cutely naive!
