I wonder how much Messi's weight.. 50 pound ? during celebration, Rojo still running at normal speed like nothing riding on his back lol
The way German scored at the end despite down to 10 and now our late late goal after Nigeria somehow gifted an equalizer.... those are just classic WC moments that will lives on forever regardless the final outcome of the tournament. Its moment like that which make WC a very special tournament for everyone.
Oh yea, I'm one of those who think Rojo would be one of weakest element in the team but in this kind of situation, I guess experience plus determination speak the loudest. Banega usually having a great game every now and then, just not consistent. He scored brilliant freekicks against Nigeria in recent friendlies and also scored great goal against Italy. But only 2 players that I will never trust, that would be Higuain and Biglia. Those are the real deadweights.
I'm late to the party, watched the game on replay after work. Had no idea of the result, so it felt live Fantastic effort by everyone. You could tell from the get go that the players wanted it, the way they won each ball. Some highlights include: Messi, what a golazooooooo Banega amazing playmaker Mache amazing hustle Higuain great hold up play Defense and Armani were solid all game long Pavon good sub, Meza not so much Rojo, what a moment It's obvious teams are giving Messi zero room. Its not about his attitude or that he walks. Its just he gets no room. Even Maradona in his prime had more space. This needs to somehow be fixed. His goal proved that when he has space, he's deadly as ever with a baaaaad attitude
The all time record for number of fouls still belongs to Diego though. 53 in 1986, and 21 fouls in one game against Italy in 1982. 29 fouls ( mentioned by commentator) in 1990 up to the game against Brazil. Although the foul rules still different back then. You can kick player 5-10 times before getting booked.
Unbelievable stuff , with out that soft penalty we would have been in much comfortable position. But couldnt understand the meza sub , eventually he turned out to be poor. And our corner kicks were pathetic. And messi should have avoided the yellow But who cares , today we will celebrate , we have 3 more days to improve further. vamos vamos carajo
I have a question, when I was watching the game, I can see Sampaoli was really really happy when Messi score, I can see from his face, he really really want them to win. I really think he tried, it just didn't work out in the first two matches. ...... I'm curious why at the final whistle blow he just turn his back and went straight into the stadium, like he just go straight inside. As outside on the field all the players hugging each others how happy they are from make it. Why Sampaoli just went straight inside the stadium and out there celebrate with the whole team? I'm confuse.
After we finally qualified , I really hope the teams can make peace with him. No reason to keep the tention going.
Sure, but the British/EPL bias is legit. The league is fantastic indeed, but the best teams are loaded with players NOT from the UK. It creates a false sense of superiority there. And frankly here in the US too about them.
Rattlehead, that .gif was Sampaoli reaction when Messi score his goal (first goal 1-0). That what I was talking about, he seem VERY happy, it seems like he really really want the team to make it. Fast forward, tied 1-1, then fast forward 2-1 (second goal), then fast forward when the final whistle was blow, you can see that he just turn his back and walk straight into the stadium (I watch the replay and I saw it). I guess he know the team won 2-1, so there nothing left, but he just turn and walk straight into the stadium, while all the team players on the field ran and hugged each others show how happy they are. I was wondering why he walk straight back to the stadium at the end, was it because this match's lineup was selected by the players, so he was like, hey, they right, they win, so what else is there left for me to see, so I just walk back to the stadium, like that.
It's clear that sampaoli had nothing to do with the lineup today. If he did he would have managed to sneak in salvio in there and unbalance our defense. Sampaoli needs to find another team to coach after this. We arent made for fast tempo football as we don't have the players at all. Even the younger generations can't adapt to this shit. This is for smaller teams
True, team with many players who possess individual skills shouldnt play that kind of football. He had success with Chile so its only natural that he's trying to implement the same system , but Argentina dont have many workhorse other than few like Masche and Rojo. Our forwards and midfield would have choked out in ineffective playing that type of football Sabella didnt force the team to play high preasure game and didnt force them to built from all the way back. He built an organized midfield and defence that knows how to intercept the ball at the right time and hit with fast counter. Off course his counter attack was also organized and most of the time we only need 3 players to storm forward and we got the goals.
True. This is something I wrote when he was appointed about a year ago. I feared this team wouldn’t adapt o his extensive press game and we need three star centre backs to play his system. That’s very tough to have for any NT let alone a country thats more into creating offensive weapons than defenders. Also, his system relies heavily on wingbacks that can carry the ball and play on both sides of the pitch. We’re not known for producing such fullbacks. Arg produces diff types of fullbacks. Zabaleta, Mercado, Tagliafico. While good on the ball, these guys are more into the physical aspect of the game with limited ball carrying characteristics. It will be a bigger disaster if he stayed until 2022. Right now he’s not even interested in the young stars. Dybala hardly gets any playtime, Lo Celso will not feature at all, and Paredes/Icardi were dropped cause they don’t “fit his system”. Argentina need to stop trying to implement a flawless attacking lets copy Barcelona style of football and stick with coaches that play the Simeone style. They got to the final playing that style.
oh and Rattlesnake, I'm sure if you Youtube or Google search keywords: " Nigeria vs Argentina Full Match - World Cup 2018 - 26/06/2018 - Watch Replay" you will see it. Right here, I just watch it again. If you watching the replay it at 1:41:58 Sorry I pause it so I can screenshot it, but it clearly show he just turn his back and walk inside. eta: okay, sorry, but my question is just I'm curious why he just turn his back and walk inside, while all the players and staff were all on the field ran and hugged each others from happy. Why he not go out there to the field and hug the players too and celebrate with them? Afterall the is their coach, and he seem extremely HAPPY that they make it. Neither way, I did write it up there, I believe he REALLY really want the team to win. Regardless if they change coach or not at the end of the WC tournament, I do love to see they put everything behind right now and just concentrate on advance through the stages, one at a time, and it France next.
Banega involved in both goals and created some great chances which we couldnt finish. Hopefully this is the version of him that will come out at knockout stage.
Someone mentioned that Rojo, despite his flaws, always has a fighting spirit. Right on. Here’s the players celebrating after the final whistle, indeed Sampaoli was nowhere to be seen. I wonder if he is merely nominally in charge.
could some one tell me , what is happening here https://www.ole.com.ar/seleccion/messi-aguero-sampaoli-tyc-sports_0_2040396129.html
