@legendarsunrise i agree mostly. But I prefer to see Rudy and Werner over goretzka and gomez.

Brandt is this year’s super sub. Like Schurrle in 2014.

I think part of it is because of the lack of physicality from the rest of the team. If he cools off just a bit he will fond the right balance. I get the impression that he feels under pressure to do everything in defense.

Right now he's not wrong. We need more stability around him. Which is why I'm not hard on him right now.

I like that Boateng played several excellent long diagonal balls across the field to find Werner. But he got forward too often in the second half, since both Kroos and Gundogan were present in the central midfield at that time, Boateng getting forward severely compressed Kroos and Gundogan’s spaces in the center and many times they were forced to move to the side to take positions.

Also Boateng getting forward poses a risk for for us to deal with the opponent’s counter attack(reminded me of how Lucio was back then at Bayern) If we faced team with great counter attack abilities, Boateng’s habit of getting forward could be a weakness for opponent to exploit.

I would rather have Boateng staying at the back calm and composed and leave all the midfield build-ups to Kroos and Gundogan.

All true, but I think that had a lot to do with sweden marking kroos and gundog with their forwards.

It was like that in the BWs that my sons were watching at. They walked in within kits on and “fans” were telling them that they were going to Ikea after the game. They were like, “oh you’re Swedish? How’s USA doing in the World Cup?”

Yet another reason to go with a three-man midfield. Get Rudy to drop to the level of the CBs, receive the ball, and sprayy balls forward so Boateng isn't asked to do as much. It doesn't help that Mats was out for this game and Rüdiger can't be trusted to do much on the ball.

Im rewatching the match. Müller made about 5-6 great diagonals behind the defense that Kimmich failed to play in. I think the video crew will look at that and work on it. We could have created a lot of chances with those runs if the ball was played in. Just needed kimmich to play a soft ball around the outside back into the box for Muller. Would give him the chance for a cut back or cross from within the 18.

The goal we gave up was so preventable. Really bad decision to pass the ball to gundog who is marked by 2 players. Then kroos doesnt track toivonen back leaving him 1v1.

I think Goretzka could be our Ballack type by EC 2020. By then he will have developed even more than now. The potential is there for that. Otherwise we are likely to have to wait until the youth breakthrough before we see another Ballack type.

what's annoying about this WC is that we took in 2 deadweight players in Khedira and Draxler. I'm not a Can fan but Can is a ton better than current Khedira, who needs to retire post WC.

strange how Reus has missed almost the entire season and yet he looks the sharpest out there.

I hope Kovac trusts him and sees his potential.

Draxler and Khedira need to be permanently on the bench from now on.

Its amazing how out of sync draxler is. He is just standing around and ball watching. Everyone else is keyed in, and running their asses off.

that's what we all love about Reus, can get injured a million times and always comes back a million times as if nothing happened.

if it wasn't for these constant injuries he would be considered world class by everyone. Instead almost 30, he missed his chance to get even more recognition.

I did say that Loew would play 4-2-3-1 against the Swedes cause of Swedes lack of explosive pace and they still caused one or 2 issues when they attacked, I'm certain if we qualify for last 16 and its Brazil then there's no way he can play this system

Sweden could have killed the match in the first half, but that is the achilles heal of counter attack football. You have to be perfect to win. You create only 2 or 3 chances in an entire match. If you don’t take almost 100% of your chances you wont win. Thats why I prefer a proactive approach to play. We create so many more chances that it gives us a much higher chance to win.

We still played 4231. A 4141 would be perfect against Brazil because we would have 3 men in midfield.

I seriously hate Kovac being our coach next season. I'm iffy about his plans for plenty of players as well as the question marks about how he will deal with the youth integration.

but if Goretzka is used extensively, develops well and plays CL regularly that will only benefit the NT.

Low is annoying he drops Mustafi but not Draxler, both should have been dropped, If Low stays on, would like to see him show favoritism if he has to, to guys who deserve it.

You get good and bad with him. Many coaches would not have brought Klose to WC14, but he was a key to that championship. On the downside you have Draxler, Khedira or Mustafi.

No matter how many times he gets injured he always comes back stronger. Is Reus a saiyan?

Still rewatching. Our start to each half was an absolute Blitzkrieg. With a little luck the match could have ended in the first 10 minutes of either half.
