I think our attack looked much better with Werner, Gomez, Reus and Brandt in. what's awkward is we actually looked better playing with 10 men, lol. good news for us is that Korea to survive need to win as well. Which will open them up, unlike the Swedes who parked the bus, hoping to snatch some pts.
I am obviously happy, and what I may say now may seem like a buzzkill, but there is an element of Swedish tactical ineptitude involved in this win. They just wouldn't press/ take risks even when they were a man up. They were still defending deep and let Germany get into dangerous positions on multiple occasions.
I just realized that this game was one of the rare competitive comeback wins for Low. Usually when we are behind we either lose or barely draw. Down 1-0 to win 2-1.
lol Toni Kroos on his mistake: "If you play 400 passes in a game, sometimes two will fail!" #GERSWE— German Football Daily (@GERFootDaily) June 23, 2018 completely deflecting what happened.
95 - Toni Kroos' strike (94:42) was Germany's latest ever World Cup goal scored during regulation time (excluding extra time). Poise. #GERSWE #GER #WorldCup pic.twitter.com/n6yomGJSAx— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) June 23, 2018 The more I watch this World Cup the more I understand Real Madrid's international dominance the past years. Kroos, Ramos, Modric, Ronaldo etc... All leaders. All showing up when it matters the most. We typically struggle against a bunker defense. Every time they came out of their shell we generated good counters. Even if those sere just Werner turning ok the turbo.
Loved his will to get back on the pitch. We need more Rudys. I think he will play again even with a broken nose.
What’s good about these games is that Germany’s coming back after being one down against compact deep lying defenses and we all know that Germany didn’t have the margins with them against Mexico But still, positive attribute
Seeing how he was never an option to come on, wondering if this is the end for Ozil at this WC. same for Khedira. Draxler should be done at the WC. After 2 games, Mueller shows he does not belong in the team anymore. Werner looked great on the wing. Brandt was impressive with both games. The offense should go thru Reus...
My observation: Gomez coming in allowed Werner to add some speed on the left, leading to both goals. Also had the defender commit to him freeing Reus on the first goal. Why isn't Brandt starting? Seriously, 2 goalposts in about 10 minutes of playing time.Experts please explain (I admit you know ore about the game than I do) Agree that defensive aspects are a mess, we know miss Boateng next game and I believe Hummels is on a yellow.
Müller can still have an impact. I’d replace Drax with Brandt. Play reus and brandt on the wing with muller in the middle underneath brandt.
Müller had the most key passes today according to a statistic He’s one of my favourite players but I agree he should be benched if he doesn’t start to contribute more
Kimmich Sule Rudiger Hector --Kroos Gundogan ---------Reus --Muller Gomez Werner Gomez physicality vs South Korea
Durmaz is a German double agent with that dumb foul that led to Kroos's winner. He'll receive his cheque in the mail, post WC.
