Apparently Brian has signed an NWSL contract so no longer allocated player. Utah has reached agreement with Goteborg to free Press.

So what does that mean? The Red Stars are paying her, not US Soccer?

Yes Would be interesting to see who has NT contracts at this point. Id bet a couple were dropped. Were any added?

The intrigue is dark and full of terrors.

I'm surprised Brian was taken off the NT payroll. Not that she's done much for the last couple of years. How do we find out who's allocated -- and who is not?

So the Red Stars give up 4 salaries for 2. I'm assuming Brian is being paid more than Huerta thus the need to unload a couple extra salaries.

Just go look at the roster releases from the beginning of the season. Those will list who was a Federation player of not. No player has ever been dropped from allocation in the middle of a season, so those lists will be the minimum number of players. We have very occasionally seen a player added to allocation status in the middle of a season, but it's rare, and we wouldn't see players sign NWSL contracts (i.e. paid by the league/teams) in they had a Federation contract.

I wasn't talking about allocated contracts but NT contracts. Traditionally their is a 6 month review of contracts in June where players can have their tier changed or be dropped all together. Ur correct that even if a player was dropped from their NT contract the fed traditionally pays their NWSL salary thru the end of the season. In the case of Brian, John Halloran posted that her contract wasn't being paid by the fed because she wasn't allocated to any team at the beginning of the season while Press was allocated to Houston and will be paid.

The Press to Utah trade had me looking at the Royals Roster, and I see they now have 4 Stanford players: Press, O'Hara, Barnhart, and LaBonta.
I already knew that NC has 5 UCLA players: Rowland, Dahlkemper, Mewis, Zerboni, and Jenkins.

Are there any other alumnae clusters of 4 or 5 in the league?

Well, the Red Stars have a few North Carolina players. Obviously Summer Green and Brooke Elby but the Reserve team has Megan Buckingham and Jo Boyles and I believe Zoe Redei is playing with them this summer.

So Sofia Huerta is playing at the #10 spot? I thought she wanted to be traded so she can play right defender?

I would guess she felt she'd earned the right from Chicago due to time served but may feel that as a new player in Houston fitting in is more important than asking for favors.

I have this to say about that. Huerta's first practice (and Comeau and Polkinghorne) with the Dash was Wed June 20. The Game was Fri June 22 in Houston. Pauw decided to play all three on Friday. Comeau was in her normal right fullback spot, Huerta was in the midfield where she has been playing for Chicago. It makes total sense to me to not play Huerta at right FB after 2 practices with the team.
More information about Pauw's plans for the rest of the season may be out there, but I have not seen it.
I think reaction to where Huerta played Friday is premature.

Well, I was at the Dash vs. Pride game in Orlando on Wednesday and Sofia still wasn't at right defender nor does she seem to have much interest in full time defending, she just wants to make the USWNT World Cup Team any way she can. She is not nor has ever been a right full back defender. What Jill Ellis is doing, no one knows. But Huerta is still good enough to make the USWNT WC team at the right midfield attacker spot, IMO.
