@hamad, I don't know what's the issue with you. Saudi has just lost 5-0 against a mediocre side and you bring up a friendly from 16 years ago???? You know what else happened right after that? It wasn't even the last time the two teams met! Either way this is pointless. After the shameful display on Thursday, just keep the aims basic and simple: 1- Pressure the opponents high up the pitch 2- Win tackles (none of this half hearted challenge where I put my foot in but the ball still rolls over it) 3- Shots on target 4- Stop making basic errors on the ball That's all I ask. I'm not in favour of changing the formation. Having numbers in the back won't change anything if your positioning is poor or you give the opposition time in midfield. Stick with 4-2-3-1 but do it properly. Personnel wise, I want pace and grit. Fahad should start.
Hattan Bahabri shoul replace Shehri, not Otayf Mansour should replace Omar hosawi, while Buraik should continue to play. Moataz is over-rated and another sort of Omar Hosawi, Moataz should not play this match.
I still believe in Sehri and he can handle playing NT games pressure. Hattan recently joined the NT and he is a liability and should not be in WC too. Mansour is not CB, he can give maturity in full back. If not Moataz then , Jahfali can work too..
You are forgetting the Jahfali is not the WC squad. He should have had been in place of Al Bulaihi (IMO).

Well it’s not expensive to be optimistic !! Let’s build some scenarios: S1: KSA Lose Mathematically we will be out if Egypt beats Russia . Last match day will be have to be goal fest , and NT has to beat Egypt by huge shoreline and except Uruguay has to beat Russia by huge scoreline too. If Russia holds Egypt or beats them then we are out S2: Draw Again goes to last match day fiasco. But again mathematically we will be out and has to rely on GD only if we beat Egypt. S3: Win Unlikely scenario. This too can well go down to GD deciding factor. If Russia beats Egypt , then Uruguay needs to beat Russia and if KSA beats Egypt on last match then three teams will be locked down in 6 points where GD will be deciding. Any other result between Russia and Uruguay will be in KSA favour
S1: Russia Wins against Egypt 1-0 or 2-0 KSA wins against Uruguay 1-0 Russia will qualify to round of 16 while last match day will be open for KSA, Uruguay and Egypt as well. S2: Russia draws with Egypt OR Egypt wins against Russia KSA wins against Uruguay. All four teams will be in with the chance to qualify to next round S3: KSA draws OR losses against Uruguay... World Cup dream over and watch the remaining world cup from home in Saudi Arabia after playing the last match against Egypt which will be of no importance to Saudi Arabia BTW, South-Korea also lost 5-0 against Holland in World Cup 1998 but they bounced back really strongly in the next world cup (2002) and reached the Semi-Finals. I recon same thing might happen to Saudi Arabia in the next world cup... Let's see.
Thanks for sharing. Illustrates what we already know: If you don't work hard off the ball and position yourself correctly, it doesn't matter how well you can pass or dribble. The eternal lesson those lazy ass players never seem to learn.
I thought Salem, Taysir body of work was there. Faraj, Otayf, Sharani, Sheri were mad lazy though. It was specially important for the midfielders to work hard but none of them save for jaseem showed the needed workrate to compete in the opener against the host. They need super hard working holding midfielders that drop deep every single game to provide the defenders with passing lanes.
Honestly all Asians teams have shown some sort of fight and general common sense. In truth no asian team have been humiliated in the world cup from a game to game basis since Korea 0-5 in 98. Teams have been competitive at least So to see saudi make the same mistake time after time...embarrasing.
Fair play to Taiseer. He puts far more effort than younger players. Everyone, not just the Asians, have done better. Whatever their quality, at least they try their best. Even their plane is a dumpster fire.
Man ad much as I hate Turki Al-Clown, watching the game again...The players were just lazy and underwhelming Faraj and Otayf deserve a shit ton of shit. They need to drop always..Always. the defense is clearly poor at handling the ball. Yet i saw them many times jusy waiting for the ball. Just very amaturish.
I don’t want Saudi NT to defeat Uruguay, I don’t want Saudi NT to qualify for next round I don’t want Saudi NT to beat Egypt.. I just want them to play good attractive football, and not to be sore losers or walkover team. Lose but loose with dignity. They need to stand up and show there fans first they just don’t qualify to have vacations back in WC , they qualify to make country proud.
Realistically, the chances for Saudi Arabia to qualify to the next round are extremely slim and that too depends if Saudi can beat Uruguay & Egypt in remaining 2 games while Uruguay loses or draws the last match against Russia. If above is a betting scenario then don't bet on above as it is theoritically possible but not practically possible for Saudi team to achieve as the moral is down in the camp and among the fans. Yes, the only option remaining is to play for dignity and lose with pride as Saudi is 100% expected to be the losing side in both matches.
Lol these players are babied and lazy. Taysir out of all people was the guy running back and forth. A 33 year old. Salem also worked hard but the rest were lazy.
I suspect and expect major changes for the match today. Though Saudi players will be playing for dignity and / or pride but, I feel Saudi Coach Pettzi is going to play for more than that and would overhaul the team by 3 to 4 new faces at the expense of 'lazy' players such as Omar Howsavi, Yahya Shehri, Sahlawi, and probably Buraik or Autef.
And changes are coming.. Riyadiyah again leaks the lineup: Owais Buraik Osama Bulaihi Yasser Otaif Faraj Hattan Taiseer Salem Fahad Bulaihi is meh, but Omar had a shocker so he deserves to ride the bench. Hattan is a surprise, but my biased Ittihadi eyes likes him. I suspect he'll be much hungrier and fight much harder than a waster like Yahya. Fahad starting is a no brainer
Hattan at least has a strong core. One of the very few saudi players with a reseptable core strenght. They really need to start implementing core strenghenting in saudi academies. Outside of Salem, Hattan and maybe fahad..everyone looks like they will be sent flying by the winds. Very weak. Theres a few other players in bench that have some sttenght but they are poor skillwise.
Not keen on Owais either. Didn't think Mayouf was much of a factor in the defeat against Russia. But he got the brunt of the criticism from the usual suspects in the Ahli and Nasser fandom.
