Switzerland didn’t do much but play for dear life, as did Iceland. None of the UEFA teams other than Spain look like potential WC winners either.
Who does look as potential winner? PS you change your argument. Before it was get out of the group now it's WC winner potential
You said that before Colombia even played, as if they are just owed a spot. Peru lost and is in terrible position, Argentina tied the theoretical worst team in their group making it much more difficult now. So 4 out of 5 looking to go through? Based on what exactly? Like someone else said, Euro 2018 is around the corner. When we have the urge to watch tactless, primitive football, we can tune into the Copa.
At one time conmebol was Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. Now it's Brazil and Argentina, and in a few more years it will be just Brazil.
Colombia disappointed, it looks more difficult indeed. As long as you invite Mexico As bad as Argentina may be, it will always be better than Portugal.
As bad as Argentina may be, it will always be better than Portugal.
But they are already worse than Portugal, we don't even have to look into the future.
But they are already worse than Portugal, we don't even have to look into the future.
Disagree and we will see it this WC. However, I agree “worse than” is the right expression when comparing to Portugal, an NT that plays bad and hopes the opponent is worse. Argentina is of course of a different standard.
Where did I troll Portugal until you butted in? I was talking about overall confed chances to advance.

"Argentina is of course of a different standard" I guess you haven't been watching Argentina the last couple years.

"Argentina is of course of a different standard" I guess you haven't been watching Argentina the last couple years.
It didn’t happen against Chile. Sure, Argentina has not looked great but the class and quality is there. I actually don’t and you should reply in that pertinent thread when that has occurred. Anyways, I’m out of this trolled discussion.
You actually do that. Your responses to this are alwys lol [insert country here]. You don't actually respond to the points made Also why are you calling this trolled discussion. Because you are wrong? I for one made a prediction after 2014 which you of course laughed because your answers regarding the future are based on what you see short term. I hope you still belive Costa Rica is a future powerhouse
Please point out the post where I did this against Portugal before the trolling. Anyway, I will come back to this thread after the end of the WC.
This world cup is shaping up to be highly favorable to European teams unlike the last one where only 6 Uefa teams made the knockout rounds. The change to the grouping from "geographic considerations" to using fifa ranking with only a confederation limit really made all the groups more balanced. No more multiple groups of death or cake walks. So the whining by Europeans that expanding the world cup would dilute the game is now going to be a fact. Personally i think expanding the number of world cup spots was the obvious solution since Asia and Africa haven't closed the gap with Europe. While the desire to increase the representation of Africa and Asia is justified in terms of world population its not in terms of member confederations actual sporting strengths. This thread has come back from the dead but lets be honest this is a zombie and really should be put out of its misery.
You don't get that with 48 teams you will have more uefa teams in the top 32 than in the 32 teams world cup as the weakest european teams are better than the weakest teams from asia africa and north america. You keep telling that 6 teams advanced and you forget that only one ended at the bottom of a group...12 from the 13 uefa nations ended in the top 24 in 2014 while having both the world champion and top 3 toying with brazil in brazil. Anyway be patient. ^^
Uefa and commebol levels are not questionned. What i see is that from 5 african teams only one might reach round 16... Only one from concacaf and one from afc.... So....
