I thought I would erase the bad thoughts of the past season and start a new thread for the next. Great news today as Ajax have signed both Gravenberch and Brobbey to their first professional contracts. Both were instrumental in the recent Dutch U17 Euro champion team. Additionally, a young LB from AZ, Salah-Eddine was signed. Let's hope the youth continue to progress at Ajax!!!

wingback would also suit him in NT. he is better skilled than both Van annholt and Blind. but at Ajax I see his Career fading.

Yes, he can play there if it is a 3-5-2 but he is not a good enough defender for a 4-3-3

  6. Kluivert to AS Roma. For his sake I hope they will do a better job than Inter did with Castaignos.
Seems ASR were scared of by the asking price for Zyech.

I think Roma over paid for Kluivert and it looks like they really were the only team seriously after him. Ziyech better have a good WC or he will be back playing at Ajax this season.;)

Nice piece of business for Ajax.. but overall I am very disappointed with JK's move to AS Roma. Serie A has not been a good "stepping stone" for Dutch players. Talents who showed early promises, e.g. De Vrij, Strooman, Karsdorp, get stuck in mediocrity (no thanks to injuries). Others did emerge seemingly out of nowhere (Hateboer, De Roon)… decent bench-fillers for Oranje, but I have not seen indication that they will become long-term answers.

Raiola is JK's agent and he's very well connected in italy.... i'm wondering if JK's move to AS Roma is more beneficial to Raiola than it is to his client... he seems like a really shady guy

Just saw a story that both Sinkgraven and Cerny will start training with Jong Ajax this week.

Ajax has announced they will spend part of the winter break here in the US as the Florida tournament in January. Mentioned other teams are Sao Paolo, Wolfsberg and Bayer Leverkusen. Would be cool to have a meet up of US supporters!!

I just checked the website and yes PSV were there. Eight teams present but only two matches per team. PSV had two draws against Brazilian teams; they won one PK shoot out and lost the other.

I'm going to see about going down for the Ajax matches if I can get an inexpensive plane ticket and if Mrs. O14 is willing.

Is Ajax really buying Dusan Tadic or is it just fluff?

It's serious. Overmars has been over in England talking to the parties.

So basically a Kluivert replacement then? He'd come in and play on the left wing? That's a very "not-Ajax" type of purchase I can't imagine he'll be cheap.

Amin Younes' contract is up right so he's effectively gone?

The club has already purchased Labyad from Utrecht and a young wing/striker Bande from a Belgian side. Younes is gone on a free transfer.

Story I read is that they plan to use some of the Ziyech money for Tadic.

UK media are talking about 18 mil. GBP asking price for Tadic. Hope this is a typo. Why would we need a player like Tadic in the first place? First we let Younes go on a free transfer, which is a very bad piece of business, then we are negotiating the purchase of a 30 years old average attacking midfielder for an exorbitant price. Looks like this club is mismanaged.

A lot of youngsters are with Ajax' first team in Germany. Among others Ryan Gravenberch, Nicolas Kühn, Victor Jensen, Ché Nunnely & Dominik Kotarski.

In the friendly game vs VVSB it was in fact past season's Jong Ajax plus Neres and Wober. I was impressed by Gravenberch, Matusiwa and Eiting. Bijleveld did pretty well too. Average display by Labyad and Bande, hope they will improve. Only if we could keep the young talents until they are at least 23-24 yo. I know in today's reality this is just wishful thinking, but still...

Do any of you know of Ki-Jana Hoever? Apparently he's a very highly regarded prospect but I've never heard of, or seen him. Liverpool apparently are going to sign him for their academy.

He played on the U17 team and that's all I know. Chances are he will never be heard from again.
