How much would you be willing to bet on us getting through the group with a 4-2-3-1?

I will be surprise if we score 3 against Mexico, when I saw the match against Mexico during Confed cup, they impressed me even they lost to our young team, the way they dominate the ball in midfield makes them quite dangerous because we always struggle against team like this such as Spain...

We might . But we will be extremely vulnerable to counters with Kroos, Khedira in midfield

Boateng is not even in good form, Neuer is a big question mark

Reminds me so much of Spain in 2014

Switch on the back 3 IN GAME Against Mexico and hold that until the end of tournament.

Probably the Sule is best side kick with Boateng and Hummels on the right CB position such as the Rudiger on the left

not really sure about playing 5 at the back in games Germany should be looking to dominate

Possession means nothing if we can’t execute

We can’t deal with counters at all.... And before we score any goal we would concede 2-3 goals by their counters

Is this what we've seen in any actual games?

Kind of sounds like a fever dream you are having

I'm not a fan of 3 CB and really don't see the issue. If you wanna use a CB just to cover the center midfield (more a lesss the outdated idea of a libero), it's a total waste, especially if you wanna dominate the midfield. Most counters will come over the flanks anyway and those long diagonal passes are the perfect counter for three CBs around the box but no wing back. Even the worst team can hoof the ball upfront to one of the corners and create massive problems. Could work against other possession-based teams with slow wingers but other than that, I really can't see the benefits of 3 CBs. The 4-4-2 was the tactical answer against the 3-5-2 and 4-3-3 in the 90s for some reason, mainly to control the counters at the sidelines.

I recon 4-3-3 would be our best bet......

    Kimmich - Boa- Hummels- hector
    ---Khedira-----Kroos-----Gundo-----
    Muller--------------------------------Reus
    ---------------------Werner---------------

Kroos , Gundo and khedira all can push up front if needed be...

    Is it a wrong perception?

What makes people think Kroos, Khedira can dominate midfield?

We need more balance. 4231 is obsolete

    We need an extra midfielder

I agree, and Germany must play a 4-3-3

    4-3-3 makes far more sense

About Kroos; Isn’t he able to read the game defensively or does he just not bother? Because I’ve seen plenty of times where it’s obvious where the opposition is gonna pass and he just doesn’t look to bother covering the space

I’d like to see a player behind him and Khedira... I mean Boa and Hummels in top form are able to cover up a lot of the gaps but I’m not so sure about Boateng now after his injury

Friendly results are irrelevant. How do people not understand this by now?! I remember similar bellyaching when we drew against Cameroon in 2014 and that came to absolutely nothing.

I was afraid that Sandro Wagner would do the same to his Bayern team mates going to the WC. It didn’t happen luckily

    What a nightmare for France!

Remember in 2014 when people wet their pants that Germany had no 9 to hold up play?

Or in 2012 that kevin grosskreutz was not in the squad?

most of these things don't matter

    Poor Kroos

He just won 3 CLs on the bounce after converting himself to a pure CM and still no one rates him :D

No I still rate him as one of the best midfielders in the world but when it to me doesn’t look like he’s doing everything he can defensively, I get mad because this team could really need Kroos doing more defensive work

Is this the Saudi game again?

Because he got caught in a bad challenge and fell heavily - after that he bailed out of every 50/50
