Hey, Galaxy fans! Anyone up to meet up and watch some World Cup matches with the best fans in the world, your fellow Galaxy supporters? I believe the last BS meet-up was 4 years ago at the 2014 MLS Cup and it might be awhile before we have another one of those to celebrate -- so let's get together to watch some World Cup action instead!

Unfortunately, this WC isn't super-friendly to the PAC timezone, but we'll make it work. Feel free to suggest a venue or game that can meet everyone's schedules.

    Some possible venues:
    Alpine Village (Torrance)
    Other suggestions?

    Some possible games:
    Friday Jun 15th -- 11AM -- Portugal vs. Spain
Sunday Jun 17th -- 8AM (how early can you drink?) -- Mexico vs. Germany
    Sunday Jun 17th -- 11AM - Brazil vs. Switzerland

The Galaxy's hosting their own watch parties, so we can also meet up at one of those (see the schedule here: https://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2018/06/11/la-galaxy-announce-2018-fifa-world-cup-watch-party-schedule

Call me salty, but I'm having a difficult time getting excited for this World Cup without the USA in it...

Call me extra salty, but I don't give a damn about CONCACAF doing well. I want Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama to all get their asses handed to them...

I'm not feeling it either. You know they just keep coming every four years. I'll catch the next one.

I felt like that too but now that it's closer, I'm getting so excited.

Some of my favorite soccer memories are World Cup related. I still remember hating Zidane for scoring on Brazil in 98.

I remember cheering wildly at 2am after the dos a cero game (good God that still gives me goosebumps)

The Zidane Head butt. I had grown to love him (still do) by then.

Or that crazy Uruguay-Ghana game? Suarez and the handball? The Ghanaian pk miss? Uruguay winning at the end?

    I live for that shit!!

I'm down for a BS WC viewing party.

Between the blood money used to “win” this and the next Cup, the spectre of Russian hooligans emboldened as the host country, Fox’s broadcast team (aside from JP), the US’s absence and England’s quadrennial ability to underperform even the lowest of expectations. I’ll watch some games I’m sure, but I too find myself nonplussed.

Of course I'll watch. There are a few teams I am interested in watching, Peru, Egypt are underdogs I'm rooting for. I created a bracket with a buy in to make it a little more interesting.

Well, we've got maybe a couple takers so far.

And hey -- I get it. Lots to be bummed about in this WC or in general (which is where I was in 2014), but life's blessing is to be able to steal moments of happiness and light, like getting together with friends and creating good memories, from the dreariness and the dark! That is life...and more importantly...that is football!

Sounds good. I never know my schedule and availability (for instance, I can't make anything this Sunday - my oldest has her "bridging" ceremony at church) but please post any meet ups and I'll see if I can make some of them...

    Whaaaaaat? ;)

In any case, the only thing I'll be sharing is my good will and bubbly personality.

Forgot about Father's day, which might make this weekend tough for some. Here are some possible games for the next few weekends:

PER vs DEN - Say Jun 16 9 AM
CRO vs NIG - Sat Jun 16, 12 PM
GER vs MEX - Sun Jun 17 8 AM
BRA vs. SUI - Sun Jun 17 11 AM
GER vs SWE - Sat Jun 23 8AM
KOR vs. MEX - Sat Jun 12 11AM
POL vs COL - Sun Jun 24 11AM

If none of these sound great, we can wait for the knockouts!

Google just told me that Torrance is 2535.6 miles from me. Too far. Now if the meetup was in the authentic downtown area it would be only be a 2,518.7 mile commute and I would definitely be there.
