With him instead of Germany putting 4 past Mexico it was Trinidad and Tobago.

Here is my opinion on Piojo. Piojo is a hell of a motivator. Which to be honest was what the 2014 team needed at the time. Especially since a good chunk of the media and fans were shitting on the National Team for their poor performance in the qualifiers. I remember a lot of calls for an all Liga Mx side to go to Brazil and to keep the European players at home.

Piojo has proven to be pretty inflexible and easily outcoached. Just look at the 2015 Gold Cup and this recent Concachampions.

    Repent yerself.

WC2014: won convincingly vs Croatia, won vs Cameroon, Drew Brasil in Brasil.
The most inspiring campaign in the last 16 years imo.

I would give him a second chance to manage El Tri.

That was the honeymoon phase. A year later he had already been figured out, didn't adjust, the team played badly and he got in a fight with Martinoli. And then we ended up with Osorio.

This is similar logic to what brought Javier Aguirre back a 2nd time.

And then Guille Franco over Hernandez happened.

In an ideal world i would choose Emery, Simone, or Allegri. With the amount of money the federation generates, I can't see why they can't thrive to get a top notch coach. Instead, we are talking Herrera and Villas-Boas

I'm more saddened by the fact that there are so few competent Mexican managers out there.. Nadie le va a hechar la misma cantidad de huevos trabajando con la seleccion que un Mexicano. Not a columbian, not an argentinian. It seems most retired mexican players prefer going into media than managing

Would've been cool to see Cuauhtemoc Blanco as a manager for some Liga MX team.. interested in seeing how that would've turned out.

I'd be down for Piojo because honestly, when push came to shove he (literally w/martinoli) backed it up.

Does anyone here honestly think that the players are gonna rally around Osorio? that JCO can give a motivating speech to hype the players up if we're down at the half? Hell even Tena gave a dope speech to the players before the Olympics in 2012.

    But Osorio? ugh.

I think hoping for a big extranjero name is a bit of a reach. They will not rehire Piojo, quite frankly he blew it with his stupid antics. Perhaps his only chance is winning the next season, but who’s to say they don’t hire a coach before then. Realistically, the top 2 candidates have to be Almeyda and Tuca. If it’s neither of them, then I think we will get another extranjero.

I don’t know how his fallout from Chivas will affect his chances, but Almeyda would surely have us playing some beautiful futbol. Nowadays, Chivas is basically “the best Mexicans who aren’t in Europe.” And Almeyda proved he can do with that. I’d only imagine he can do a whole lot better with Chucky, Tecatito, Herrera, Guardado, etc.

Honestly, other than Tuca (yes, he’s basically Mexican) and Piojo, there are no Mexican coaches who would be worthy of the job.

Foreign managers who has won at the Mexican level in the past 15 years:

    Daniel Passarella
    Américo Gallego
    Ricardo Ferretti
    Antonio Mohamed
    Gustavo Matosas
    Pedro Caixinha
    Diego Alonso
    Matias Almeyda
    Robert Siboldi

Out of this list, who is the best for the Mexican NT?

I was excited about Cardozo when he had Toluca playing pretty good. Thought he could have possibly made a challenge by now if he had stayed there long enough.

Pep's right hand man, Domenec, is set to make his coaching debut in the mmls next season with NYC. Perhaps keep an eye on him for the future?

For those of you who want Bielsa yet hate Osorio, I laugh. They are cut from the same cloth. Tacticians who perhaps think too much. Bold but innovative. Stubborn, hard headed. Their way is the only way. Personally, I’m indifferent to both. But you guys would be calling for Bielsas head within a year.

I do not agree with this. We know what Bielsa can do, he has been proven. JCO has yet to prove his crazyness actually has some type of meaning.

If JCO gets us to the 5th game or further in hindsight everyone will have him as one of the best to ever have coached el tri. Every ******** up will be forgiven because when it counted he got us there.

Bielsa is proven and he controls every level...como en Chile that youth system was overhauled, as would ours. Scouting would be improved, and his no BS non Diva status will only have players who will die for the shirt.

Tuca is go to as well since he just doesn't give a ********. The is willing to keep players in check , though feelings may get hurt. He also can withstand the press.
What I think is his draw back is that he's failed numerous times when it's counted.

Matias would have been a shoe in if not for the Chivas falling out, now I think it's 50/50. But what he proved he can do with just Mexican players is nothing what he would be able to do with the BEST mexican players available to him.

Don’t get me wrong, I would be excited if Bielsa came to us. But I’m curious, how exactly is he proven? World Cup wise, he choked BIG time with Argentina in 2002 and got Chile to Octavos in 2010. Trophy wise, what has he won? Many could say he’s quite simply another over praised tactician with very little silverware (Lavolpe?)

JCO is the definition of fake it till you make it. Dude acts the part but that's about it. He's Chepo 2.0. He's been figured out, and there's no innovation, aside from perhaps placing Layun in the midfield.

When nothing works, his last resort is balonazo to Corona or Lozano and hope they save my ass.

The only person that I see can handle the Mexican NT and the media is Javier Aguirre or La Volpe. The rest have either crumbled under pressure or sucked at managing the NT.
