I think what zahzah is getting across is that this Senegal side while beatable isn't a pushover and is very organized. Also throughout the game they created more clear cut chances than Croatia. Their main issue is finishing. If they show up with their shooting boots then it will be a very difficult game for Poland.
The way I see it the less friendlies the better. I just want the team to be as healthy as possible come tournament time. We definitely don't need another friendly like the Egypt one where they kept on fouling us every 5 seconds.
Despite the loss on Friday I am more optimistic about Senegal than I was prior to game. Especially after the shambolic defending Poland showed vs Chile. I don't know how this will end, but I have much more confidence in Senegal now.
I'd love to continue discussing with you, but when you call a header that just goes wide not a "half chance" then I'm not sure how productive it'll be.
It did not go just wide. And if that was Croatia's best chance in the half it says a lot about Croatia's penetration.
I hope Poland advance!! If they get a draw against Senegal and Colombia, they know how many goals they must score against Japan.
I genuinely think in all honesty that this group is the most balanced. Colombia, Poland and Senegal are really about the same level. They have different styles of play and have an equal amount of notable strengths and differences while each of those are different respective to their teams. This could be one of those groups where the team of those three that scores the least goals against Japan might miss out.
It's genuinely a very interesting group where anything could happen, and the trio of Colombia, Poland and Senegal are all exciting teams capable of scoring goals and playing attractive football. Japan I wouldn't completely count out due to difference in player quality not being that huge in this group, but it doesn't seem like they're in great shape at the moment. So we might see a repeat of the last World Cup where they were bottom of a very similar group with Colombia, Greece and the Ivory Coast.
Again, no one in Polish camp expects Senegal to be a "pushover" - on the contrary, everyone, from the head coach (Journalist: Mr. Nawalka, what is the goal of the team for this tournament? N: The goal is the game vs Senagel... J: But don't you have any further objectives? N: No. The goal is to defeat Senegal. Only after this, there will be any point to worry about further games.) to players (J: Turbo, what do you think about Senegal? Grosicki: They have simply excellent players. They posses speed, physical strength, and good technique. I have played with these guys in France, and now in England, and they are fantastic. I would say, that against them Turbo won't be enough... I will need Bi-Turbo... In fact, the only worse group for us could have been, if we got Spain instead of Columbia) know how good Senegal can be. The bulk of preparation is for this game. Personally, I was quite disappointed with the draw, as clearly both Senegal and Columbia posses features which can help them enormously to counter any of our advantages. It will be a tough physical, technical and tactical contest between these three teams (luckily, Japan seems to have lost all their coherence right now, as otherwise, they could be some challenge as well). Physicality worries me the most, as some of our guys are getting quite old and had injury problems (Blaszczykowski, Piszczek), therefore substitutions could become crucial - and Nawalka is disastrous when it comes to substitutions, and seems to always have a reserved space for his "favorite" players (Peszko, Cionek...) above these in form ones. On the other hand, this is what WC is all about: we have never played a competitive match against any of these teams, so it is therefore something new and exciting.
That actually could happen: Poland, Senegal, and Columbia drawing each other (or beating each other across), so who will qualify will be decided in game vs Japan, and number of goals you can beat them with. In this scenario, playing Japan last becomes a blessing instead of a curse...
We are waiting for tomorrow, and this French Professor assessment... Up until now, recover progresses at miraculous speed... It is like if Jesus stepped down to Earth, and said "Kamil, be healed!". On the other side, Professor from Nice... Damn! Maybe ha has a cat called Behemot as well? This one could get Glik cured for Russia for sure, I just wonder what the price would be, one soul, or the ones of the whole team
Unless of course they play for pride and try to at least play the spoiler role and salvage something in the Group. Always a flip side.
Yup. As I said in another post Diaz is solid defensively but offensively provides nothing like Fabra. He was pretty much the starter most of early qualifying and in the Centenario so at least he has that going for him if he does get the nod over Mojica.
ColOmbia please; adding the U really bothers us... Frankly, since I am expecting upsets, I really can't call what position is going to be for each country despite knowing that Colombia will advance. Poland could slip up and Japan could get a surprise and top the group for all we know. Same for Senegal as they keep getting favoritism to create the most likely of upsets.
I can't for the life of me see this happening. I think there is a better chance of Saudi Arabia or Panama topping their groups. (And I think both of them will finish last too.)
Sorry, I am Polish, so I may have confused you with these two other countries: British Columbia, and District of... Just joking, thanks for correction.
Remember Japan and Ivory Coast were favorites over Greece more often than not but Greece made it in the end when it came to our group at the 2014 world cup. Hell no one thought Costa Rica would actually dominate their group by the way that they did so it's very possible to see Japan succeeding.
