The Mexican National Team is not bad and its actually above average. People also have to understand that football/soccer players/clubs/teams are just as much as business if not more. People talk about players going to Europe because its so much better etc... etc... The truth is that there are maybe 5 leagues in Europe that are better in terms of competition and even in those leagues, there are generally 2-3 teams that always win. The only leagues that can possibly be "better" in terms of competition are the German, Spanish, Italian and maybe English but even then, there are always 2 or 3 teams that always win. I recall hearing a commentator saying that Mexico is very good in terms of young talent and always does well when there isn't money involved (i.e. younger categories). If supporting these molero games contributes to the impasse of Mexican football, then we are all are at fault and its ironic that the ones who purchase the tickets for the Mexico games are the ones that were at one time or come from a lineage that were shunned by that same country.
That's not exactly a great correlation though. You could argue more than great coaches come from a limited pool of countries or that talent in your squad matters more. If you wanted to extrapolate this argument to us, for example, we would always end up with a Piojo kind of guy (which is even more damning since the teams doing the most damage in Liga MX, at least lately, are for the most part coached by foreigners. Osorio is not precisely a great tactician, though.
I actually think its a good correlation and I believe any statistician would agree. I do not know what the answer is but the root problem of Mexican football is the business end of it.
Ehhh, the sample is too small and the only way it could work is if all the participant countries had approximately the same level of coaches overall which is not the case. I agree there.
I don’t understand why they’re supposedly considering boas. Dude has been chilling in China and will likely view Mexico as another pay day. His Porto was unusually good but how long ago was that?
We are not very good at developing new talents. I consider nations like England to be very good and the talent disparity between the two is pretty big. In youth footy you could get away with being slow, meh touch, passing, dribbling, finishing, attack positioning, vision etc. We've had players who have some of those weaknesses hidden in their youth days but in the pros they get exposed.
I like Almeyda.................the problem is would he accept??? If he is getting crucified in Chivas.......................what is to say he would not get crucified in the selection???? Regardless of his performances..........or not. But definitely an interesting option knowing that he is young, hip, knows the country, and i believe has what it takes..............to go go the next level, so to speak.
Guardiola has stated that next year he will be at Manchester City, but the year after that he doesn't know. He said he wants to give the World Cup a shot and attempt to win it in his career. I'm not saying he's gonna come here, but it will be interesting to see if he ends up in Spain, Argentina, or maybe even Brazil.
if it doesn't matter then let's get nad sloppy seconds like Bruce Arena or Klinsmann then, what could go wrong lol
What about Pizzi? I'm not suggesting him due to his recent result vs Germany but the dude did a pretty good job with Leon in ligamx and then with Chile.
Pizzi inherited Sampaoli's team, and failed to qualify for the WC. And he wasn't that great with Leon. Probably better than Osorio, though.
Keeping a team like Chile going after Sampaoli is still impressive though. Besides, Chile was and is still a mess. Players were slipping through the cracks, machín. Getting drunk and undisciplined af. That's why Sampaoli jumped ship as soon as he won CA. Dude knew what was coming. Chile also missed out by very little and by factors I believe Pizzi had no fault in. I also think he had Leon playing decent soccer. Did he win? No, but his style is somewhat similar to what JCO has going, perhaps slightly better.
Pizzi did win a copa America, that’s worth something. He’s a decent coach but I see no reason he would help México transcend.
I'm just curious to see what Almeyda would do with Tecatito and Chucky. Play them together from the beginning is a good way to start.
