There's one other point that I like to reiterate.

SHM should not be taking any set pieces. His corners were better today, but they still lack the shape and accuracy of someone like KSY.

I'm thankful that SHM didn't take a direct free kick at goal either. JWY's shot wasn't too bad. But I wanted to see LJS take it with his left.

As for KSY, I don't understand why he's needed in the box for set pieces. We have plenty of height. And we all know he's doesn't have a natural instinct for headers or battling inside the box. At least Friendship Radish knew that KSY should be the one taking all the set pieces in WC10.

When your CBs are too slow to keep up with the pace, you're asking for a disaster. Ki was barely keeping the backline intact, it was like seeing a hopeless engineer trying to keep 4 tons of bricks from falling while the advisor was blatantly eating a sandwich in front of him.

This is another problem. What's the point of having a 195cm stick when he can't even possess threat let alone score on setpieces? Once again, Kim Shin-wook is useless as a starter and sub.

Wtf, I seriously f*cking hope this is a joke. It almost seems like he doesn't understand what playing 3 at the back means. The point of 3 at the back doesn't just mean that CBs spread out wider to become quasi-FBs. The point is that you are leaving the bare minimum at the back to gain an advantage in the midfield and down the flanks, and the 3 CBs should not be expected to be a full-time cover for the WBs that never trail back. If so, the strikers will just take advantage of the sole stranded CB in the middle.

If he wants to learn how a WB should play like, he should watch how Victor Moses plays under Conte. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but he's one of the few players who has virtually all that's required. Very technical and talented player who can easily get past one or two players and tear down the flanks while has Park Ji-Sung-like stamina to run back to cover the flanks whenever the team loses possession. It's a f*cking difficult role.

This is why I still miss Song Jong-gug, he was the most complete WB we've had in 2002, he had the speed to attack and track back, had strong discipline and mindset, had quality defensive skills and overall dribbling+shooting. Shit, even Cha Du-ri still looks good enough to play for the national team again, in fact I know he's still better than our current RB options.

I definitely wouldn't mind having Grande take over the KNT helm, but at this point I think he's had enough of Shin Tae-yong's bullshit and will proceed to cash out once the WC is over.

Seriously is this dude for real?

One mistake? We conceded 3 goals you senile c*nt.

Says that with more time the 3-back formation can be fixed, and 2 days was not enough to prepare. So wtf was he doing since a fortnight ago when he assembled the NT?

Asks the fans to embrace them with love. F*cking hell, he would make a good preacher at a happy clappy church in Korea.

lol more time my ass, he kept on tinkering with the 3 back system the moment he became the manager, and what's even worse is how he keeps deploying the 3 back at the worst moment as well. Instead of sticking to a core formation like the 4-4-2 and having a backup like 4-1-4-1 or 4-5-1, he decides to use the 3-4-2-1 in the midst of flying off to the WC. YOU DO NOT TINKER AROUND JUST WEEKS BEFORE THE WC, BY NOW YOU SHOULD HAVE BUILT A MAIN FOUNDATION FOR THE WC. Jesus christ he thinks the WC is some kind of local pickup tournament.

What would be the result if this talent pool actually received Seol’s Dream manager I wonder.

It’s pretty amazing to watch this unfold really. From the perspective of a ‘fan’ with not much invested in this tournament. I’m prepared for just about anything including a miracle synergy between LSW and Son to utter and complete failure. Course my expectation are on the latter with this defense. To expect otherwise would be stupid.

This place is amazing though. It really is the epitome of only being as good as your last effort.

Grande pretty much stated all the right things, but the KFA never want to face the music as usual, the same attitude they're giving him is no different from the attitude they gave Hiddink, Coelho, Bonfrere, Advocaat, Verbeek.

"Dream manager". I wonder the same, what the results would be like had the current pool received your "dream manager".

I really hope one day we get this manager you want. I wonder if it’ll be crickets or more ‘let’s axe him ‘ talk from you

Ah, you just love to crawl out of your hole during these moments eh? Keep talking nonsense like you always do, I'm sure you're still waiting for that moment to prove me wrong pretty badly.

Even if results don't go as accordingly with 'X' manager, it all comes down to the management, and it's not like decent/world class managers haven't gotten criticized either. But, don't act like Shin Tae-yong isn't in the wrong bud.

STY is an amateur no doubt obviously at the international level. The talent is so poor he’s wanting to do 10,000 different things, none of them proficiently.

What’s that idiom about pigs and lipstick though?

How is what I said nonsense bonehead?

Just read your whining in the last 4 pages of this thread and see if any sane person could think otherwise.

It’s more pathetic than the results honestly

Why do you keep complaining about our talent pool?

Outside of the powerhouses, every side has deficiencies in their talent pool. Yet, the variances between those sides aren't that big. If they were, the results would be pre-ordained. Do you think Mexico doesn't have issues? Sweden?

Just look at Australia and how bad they were doing under a piss poor manager. Now that they have an experienced, international tournament manager like BvM, they're rounding into form as they head into the world cup.

[Edit - we have enough in our talent pool to get out of the group. We obviously don't have the talent pool to do anything in the knockout stages. But our objective is much narrower than that.]

Not true on possession football for Shin TY. I think he simply has an obsession for himself.. What he says & whatever his "ideals" are.. never made sense to me ever since he took over as manager of Olympic team + U20 team.

Anyways, I am not a fan of 3 back system (I made this clear since 2014). However, my biggest annoyance is Shin TYs obsession with "libero". An outdated ********ing position/idea. Whenever Korea play with 3 CBs, it invariably becomes 5 at the back. One of the main reason? Because the defenders & GK quickly pass the ball straight back to opposition. WBs are pushed/pegged back nearly at all times.. and if they do risk + push forward, Korean CBs can't cover for them (not to mention, again.. lost of possession to opposition quickly makes it worse).

To use Koo JC as cover to free Lee Yong.. again, is retarded as F. Jung WY plays CB & has experience playing right sided CB in 3 back system at club lvl. To use Ki SY as LIBERO .. the best central mid player for Korea, in an outdated role is madness.

We played a very poor side that just sat back and let us have possession. It was the equivalent of bringing in a retired Paulie Malinaggi for a sparring session. That being said, we played a 4-4-2 variant throughout the match. Then against a strong opponent, we all of a sudden play a 3 back system this close to a tournament? It's insane and shows the inexperience and hubris of a manager who is not ready for this tournament.

The hell....so you think our deficiencies are on par with a middle of the ground NT in the tournament? Dude we are one of the worst sides in this thing. Please don’t sugar coat.

What I struggled with today is that KSY wasn't even allowed to play a libero role. It wasn't like he was carrying forward and joining the attack. I thought we really would shift often from a 3-5-2 to a 4-5-1 so that KSY would be the playmaker in the midfield.

Instead, his tactical instructions were clear. He was pegged back to play a true CB in a 3 back system and spent little to no time in the offensive half.

Funny thing is the first 2 goals would have been saved by a decent gk. And would I have been noticing is that our CBs haven't been heading the ball on target during good set pieces. JHS is the biggest culprit. Now it was no. 5 YYS.
