This Ref is addicted to offensive fouls on US on corner kicks. Reminds me of the Mali Ref vs. Slovakia.
Needed to give that to parks 3 seconds earlier and he's in alone. Weird choice not to make that pass.
90+3' (of +5') 3-0 Vaca catches up to ball at box right foot, (too-)fast cross outswings over everybody, to 12m box left. 90+4' (of +5') 3-0 Gooch chests ball to a stop at 6-top right, has too much space, overthinks? Gooch minces to 6m 3-left, left-foot shot blocked down to 6-right foot. Gooch races Lampe to it, rushed one-touch right roundhouse low goes behind goal. Meh, I like the patience that close, but surely there's somebody open for a cross. 90+6' (of +5') 3-0 Rodríguez fk at 25m arc left, blocked by wall. USA roam down to box top right touch, but before the cross ... FT 3-0. OK, onto G7
Meola part of the Mexico games crew? As if i needed another reason to change the channel... May Mexico forever be blessed with a play by play crew of Meola, Fernando Fiore, with Celo Balboa on the sidelines
Holy cow! Was I impressed by Josh Sargent! His soccer IQ is way above the rest of the USMNT, even ahead of Pulisic who has more experience at this level. I think Sargent will draw attention of big European clubs next season.
Very impressive even against a Bolivia B team. The team showed initiative, hunger, and the skill to win. Only possible negative is that Pulisic looks TIRED!!!! He wasn’t bad and his skill is evident but he seemed somewhat checked out. Hope he gets out of that. A few are still possibly on the fringe such as Novakovich, Gooch, and a few others; although I wouldn’t drop them based on today. On a side note, I think the Julian Green question could be answered that he is a lot more of Paul Scholes than Ronaldo (obviously nowhere near the talent level). He seemed to do a lot better when he sat back and picked out the right pass and he has the ability to shoot from distance. But he needs to settle in that role. I’m very glad to see him put some muscle on as he seems able to go toe to toe on plays now. Either way, he seemed to be a lot more comfortable as a two-way than a end line winger.
How about "let's put Pulisic in at forward and have him get behind the defense" as opposed to "let's pull our best goal scorer further away from goal and surround him with as many enemy troops as possible so we minimize the chances of him scoring like ---------wood----jozy ---nagbe---pulisic---arriola --------------Bradley Look familiar?
