I have watched only until LCY got subbed off. I would give him another chance but if he plays like he did today, then he's out.
I would have never imagined seeing LSW at the WC when I was asked like 3 months ago. I am pretty glad how things turned out for him.
I'd rather Lee Chung-yong travel with the team like Beckham did for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, support from the sidelines without being selected. His form has drastically declined over the years that it's already hard for him to convince that he can play for 45 minutes.
It would've been great if he had been selected and integrated with the senior team much earlier like around last year after the WCQs were over. Still, it's not too late, and the minutes at the WC will certainly give him lot's of experience, confidence, and exposure to buildup on for the future. Lee Seung-woo at the Asian Cup next year, I can hardly wait.
If by some kind of a miracle KCH can recover from his injury in time..I think the KNT have enough quality to win the Asian cup, but depth is needed up front.
More likely LKH as HHC replacement, LSW, MSM and LJS as wingers. With Son are 6 already, add another striker and we are fine. 4-4-2 is the future and i have an hard time seeing Asian teams handle our high pressing except for Iran. This is why, regardless of the fact he's an high quality player, we need KCH to be fully recovered, if it's possible.
I think even Iran would struggle against our up-tempo, high-pressing game though they may withstand it better than any other Asian side.
Not gonna happen. I read that KCH himself hopes for a January return. And I don't think LSW's WC chance and KCH's injury are directly connected. By the time Lee got nominated, KCH hadn't been injured yet and LKH and YKH got also injured.
Maybe but we all know that KCH was a key player in STY's mind and for very good reasons. His Injury means a less difficult task to get a place in the starting XI for LSW.
this definitely. But I am not sure yet if LSW will become a full starter. We still have LJS and KJC. But I am pretty sure now that LSW will get his playing time at the WC.
Besides the goal, MSM was pretty awful. I know its his first game but headless chicken. I was 100% sure LSW wasnt ready to contribute at this level. Glad to be wrong
Was his first game. Said himself he's unhappy with his performance. Let's see how he does against Bosnia.
That means we're at least 3 months too late calling him. I am not only happy for him, I am happy for KNT. We need to be in a habit of testing our youth players faster - especially those in Europe because they're still heads and shoulders above their K-League counterparts. Which also saddens me because Paik Sueng-ho should've gotten called.
Kwon Chang-hoon is pivotal for this team and as a matter of fact, in certain respects (well, for me, most respects) he is the better and more complete footballer than Son.
I don't think Lee Sueng-woo made it because of Kwon Chang-hoon, but rather on his own merit. It was the right choice and a choice that should've been made years ago. The senseless debate of whether Lee Sueng-woo is good enough - that he plays Juvenil ball, the laughable claim that Jeonbuk is somehow better than Verona, that he's physically weak (which I don't think so), the countless demands for more credentials - must stop. All that was needed was a call up to test all these assumptions. I truly hope that we don't wait until Lee Kang-in is 20 because if you really see what's going on, Lee Sueng-woo was good enough for KNT when he was 18 and I think Lee Kang-in is ready today (well, maybe as a 85th minute sub).
I am not convinced that he deserves to fly to Russia. He has grit, puts in some hardwork but those traits are an expectation. He simply lacks the talent, doesn't he.
Shows how backward thinking the current system and management set-up is that the next gen who are clearly gifted and have an infinitely higher ceiling aren't given a chance for experience and exposure. Cha Sr. had Ko starting and LDG off the bench at 18 and 17 at France 98. PSH and LSW are older than that. We have gone backwards.
Not only is the system and management backwards, I think the fans alike are backwards too. I don't know where it comes from but there's a sharp cynicism when it comes to our European youth ballers. They come up with excuse after excuse to de-value these players. But after thinking about it, this is deeply rooted in some inferiority complex regarding the K-League. It's difficult to accept that some Juvenil player should get a chance over K-League veterans but the sooner we all accept that Incheon United is probably no better than the Spanish 3rd division, the sooner we can diagnose our problems and move forward.
Why do we keep wasting our time? I say kick him off the team now and take Paik instead. We have an army of veteran cheerleaders, from the coaching staff, the KFA to the press.
