Hopefully people are spending their time wisely. I was addicted to posting for a long time and it took awhile to learn some self control and be productive in other ways. As long as theyr'e not wasting time in other ways(playing games, twitter, youtube, facebook, etc) i say good for them. Besides, Dzeko won't be the one paying for your nice car, house, your wife's fake books(lol) etc.
Lmao I went through that phase about this time last year. Realized playing video games, watching too much soccer games, social media time, porn, tv, was not worth it because in the future those activities would not help you in anyway nothing to show for ,just wasted time.
Guys who go to Bosnia for vacation, how much spending money do you usually bring with you there? Or you think would be enough to have a good time? The times i went was with parents and was still in college so id only be able to bring $1000 or so dollars, which was ok I could go on a cheap trip to croatia for 5 days in a crappy apartment, got cheap food, drinks. In bosnia had enough to eat out everyday and pay for cousin. Oh it lasted me the 4 weeks
We had a good run on this forum, but this was destined to happen. Despite the high traffic, the forum relied on a low number of highly active posters. And when they moved on, the forum died. Personally, I'm not really that invested in the national team anymore. We win, great. We lose, meh. TBH, I'm not that invested in the country as a whole. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. There's barely anything that connects me to that culture anymore and to the people. You have 3 million people actively participating in their own destruction, even though they have the tools to make it better. The stuff I read on social media frightens me. People are full of hatred, on all sides. I'm more active on the Real Madrid forum, but mostly for big games. As bosna said, there's so many other things you could do that are more exciting than posting on a forum. I remember arguing for days about politics and other things. So much time wasted. These days, I rather spend as much time as possible with my girlfriend.
Yep! I think with the really young guys it's a bit more ok because you still have some time to waste and figure things out. Once you get closer to around mid 20's and higher, if you haven't already done things you want to, better get going because life only gets harder whether it be getting that job, education or girlfriend. I feel similar with NT as well but i'll still watch it because i honestly do miss a lot about our people and i don't get to interact with many(well there's 1 person) as there's not many of us here. One of the patterns i see here is that people's culture is very important to them and so everyone sort of goes in their own little world(French female friend always with her Frenchies and sometimes i tag along..Indian friend with his people mostly, etc). It kinda makes me miss Bosnians more even with all the flaws we have but anyways..I bet she's quite an educated BiH girl. ..You definitely deserve someone like that anyways. Cheers.
Hi guys, looking forward to discussing Bosnian football and other topics related to our beautiful country here.
Just when you think this shit is dead... WEEEERREEE BAAAACCKK! Haha, nah, this shit will never die. Way I look at it, I always end up coming back here to post. Just a heads up, flying to Italy and Bosnia. Will be in Europe for about a month and a half. I'll be in Italy from June 15 till the end of the month then onwards to Bosnia. If any of you mofos are out there in July hit me up either through Insta (alfaheta) Also as Sudzuka said, I hope you guys are using your time wisely. We can't all be kupus like me
I've been going every summer since I was 9 to Bosnia. Up until I was 16, 2000 Marks would last me about 8 weeks, which is how long my trips usually are. Last year I ended up spending 8000 marks in 7 weeks, although I did rent a car for my entire trip as well as take a trip to Budva and Tirana. My parents own a Condo in Sarajevo as well as a Condo and House in Novi Travnik so I didn't pay much in terms of housing. The partying and bottles probably ended up costing me the most LOL. I'll be there Aug 07 to September 16th. Let me know if you're around Travnik!
Going there every now and then, I understand. It's nice to see relatives and go back to the roots. All of that is reasonable. But going there every single year for 8 weeks, I don't understand. There are so many other great places to visit around the world, to explore other cultures, to learn about history, and, yes, to have a nice time. That's what traveling should be all about. Bosnians from the diaspora instead go back to the same place year after year, seeing the same people, eating the same cevapi, going out to the same turbo folk concerts. I just don't get it. But I guess, to each his own. Except for Sarajevo and a couple other places, BiH is a terrible, depressed country.
At the end of the day, home is home and some people would rather have no other place to be or visit when they get the chance. Bosnia IS a terrible, depressed country, but it's still our terrible, depressed country.
No it's not. It's just a preference. Sure there are nicer places to visit. Personally it's getting annoying to just talk about how shitty it is, let's do something about it. I certainly am planning something for when I go back.
You don't understand that some individuals have a great attachment to their homeland and family? I enjoy being able to spend days with the cousins kids or my grandparents without having to rush my time. I enjoy family outings with different parts of my family. I'm not "travelling to Bosnia" I'm going back home. Unlike majority of Bosnians in Dijaspora who claim to be so passionate about their background and nation but instead spend their money going everywhere BUT Bosnia. If anything Sarajevo is depressing and terrible. A congested city where the population dresses and acts like New Yorkers. No thanks, I'm in New York enough that I don't need that same atmosphere when I'm back home. In addition to that my dad run a small agro company with his brother and has multiple properties that I check up on every year. And to be honest 8 weeks is not enough. Even though I'm an avid traveler, no monument or wonder in a different country will EVER be as important as my family or hometown.
If you considered it home, you'd live there. But you don't. Your home is in Canada. It's easy to use emotional terms like "home" and "homeland" with pockets full of cash with the knowledge that you will eventually leave in a few weeks. Meanwhile, the vast majority of people, especially young people, can't wait to leave that "home" if they got the chance. I'm not saying that people shouldn't go there. By all means, spend even more than 8 weeks there if it makes you happy. But it is incomprehensible to me that people - many of whom are my family and friends - have never had an actual vacation anywhere else and spend every summer in some backwater in Bosnia to impress their relatives there with their cash and expensive cars. And I think many - not saying you're one of them - go there for that reason. It makes them feel accomplished to the poor people there. In Kalesija or whatever, they're somebody. In France, China, Hawaii, they're nobody. It is a peasant mentality, which is no surprise since most of them used to be peasants.
My view is: let them do something about it. They have the tools. But they're consumed with hatred and laziness.
The money you spend there improves the country. Whenever I travel nowadays I choose a place whose people I like, and then I spend money there and don’t care too much if I get ripped off because the money is going to a good people.
I wish it were so. The money doesn't really improve the country, it merely prevents the economy from imploding as there exists no normal economy without the inflow of cash from the diaspora. The good people there keep voting for the same criminals that have destroyed that country. And the rest are leaving the country if they can. I'm not saying that people shouldn't go. I've gone back a number of times. But many will live an entire lifetime without going anywhere else.
There's definitely some truth to this. I think we act out things that we truly believe(but we say something else for different reasons) so when someone tells me something like "This place sucks and that other place is great" yet they live in a way where their actions say otherwise, well..take that for what you want but it's kinda clear. We're in 2018, much easier to move (both financially and otherwise, most people are doing quite well) and so not many reasons to keep anyone back. I was thinking about this awhile ago but i don't miss anything physical about Bosnia(seeing cities, towns, rivers, etc). I miss speaking mostly our language, eating our foods, listening to our songs, etc..You can do that pretty much anywhere and actually enjoy it(without all the extra bs) if you have enough of your people around.
True. But, personally I feel responsible to do something and I can't shake the feeling so might as well do something.
Does it seem like the majority of balkan diaspora groups in North America and the EU support illiberal or fascistic politically parties back "home"?
