1) Captain Picard should not look that good shirtless. Jeez. Put your uniform back on. 2) My hopes were a bit up when I saw KHT had posted. Thought perhaps he might whip up a Photoshop of Zip's eloquent invocation. (Also as an aside: I apologize for being a part of the problem of what I call "pettiness in Crewville." A couple months ago I lobbied a cheap joke at MR. I do apologize. I know very little of that site and Mr. Guldan. The joke should be redacted from the record.)
Columbus piggybacks off the home feed when they're away, right now. The truck in attendance sends out a "clean feed", which is program minus graphics. The graphics (names, lower thirds, full screens, score bug, etc.) are added at the local studio, along with announcer audio. There wasn't a truck for the Philly feed last night, so they got a clean transmission for whatever they do. This Saturday, there will be a split truck for Chicago, they will have their own announcers on site.
He can't hide his delight! Did he update his photo specifically for this tweet? You know what the story is? The story is that dam near 8,000 people walked into a neglected stadium, on a Wednesday night, with no marketing, no advertising and an owner and league who disparage our city and family. It's XXXXing incredible - the love for the game in this city. That's your story Andy!
I eagerly await an equally outrag(eous) response from hang. edit: I mean @hangthadj. I forgot that he prefers tagging. Himself.
@Jaybir - Watch out for the smiting. Zip has the power to bring a world of hurt (frogs, lice, boils, locusts, death of firstborn, you name it.)
We should probably get rid of box scores for the games too while we are at it since they show the attendance as well. Or maybe we can go back to the old tv deal where nobody could see our games, then nobody would notice that the stadium is 3/4's empty. There is a weird paradox in Save The Crew social media and on this board where people want to point at other markets and other stadiums being half empty and scream, "Hey, Garber!!! These BIZNESS METRIX aren't looking good for YOUR FAILING SAD LEAGUE" as a point of comparison for Crew attendance. And then at the same time get angry when Crew attendance is pointed out. Here is the thing, attendance has ALWAYS been a story in MLS. From day 1 till now. It's a story because the league needs to make it a story because tv ratings for the league are, and have always been shit. It's how the league looks at themselves in the mirror and tries to convince themselves that they have any cultural relevance or that they aren't abject failures. If a team is under the threat of relocation attendance becomes even more of a story. Anyone expecting anything different, or wishing for it not be reported is hopelessly naive.
