Rapids travel to a sports club from Kansas City on the opening Cinco de Mayo game of the season. May 5, 2018, 6:30PM Mountain Time. The aforementioned season is the post 2018 pre-season. I think. Game is at Oh Mercy Park. TV is Altitude (broadcast starts at 6); Radio 950 Altitude also. Post your thoughts and knowledge on the game and on Cinco de Mayo here. I'm looking forward to it, especially as the ending to the European season is a dud- other than the Champions League final.
Doesn't look good for the locals on paper. Tim Howard clearly needs to play big--I'm talking two tremendous saves. I'm going to be an optimistic and predict a 1-1 tie with Mason scoring in the first half, then the team hanging on for dear life.
KC is at home and on top of the Western Conference. They are playing well and scoring lots of goals. The Rapids are, uh, um, still working on it. Things could get very ugly. A tie in this game would be an amazing outcome for Colorado.
By all accounts, this will be ugly.... So of course we’ll win. I can’t justify this rationale beyond saying its probably the least likely outcome, which is exactly why it’ll happen. So has this season gone.... This season has definitely appealed to my inner-Anarchist.
I just leave this right here.......Johnny Russell has a punachable face. He's the dude we are going to hate around these parts for a long time. He's annoying little twat but..........how i would love to have a player like him. This is going to be a scrappy affair and I can't wait. We need some payback for the first go around. I look for Price to be huge. This match has hs name written all over it. He just has to keep hiself in check and his fouls to a minimum. Is it time to release Bolli for a full 90 on the road or is that too risky?
2-1 loss, goal by Mason. KC has a better offense and defense than us and we're on the road. These are not good combinations. We can hang with them but given our lack of mental focus in almost every game this season I don't think we're likely to get points out of this one. The only time we've been shut out this season though was the debacle in Sandy, so I expect we'll get at least one. Badji hasn't scored on the road yet so I'm going with Mason. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2018/05/cinco-de-mayo-en-ciudad-de-kansas.html
I too think it's a long shot for the Rapids to come out of this with any sort of a result. If they do it will due to an offensive outburst where they outscore KFC. Looking at the strengths the Rapids bring to the match what first comes to mind is the forwards with Badji, Mason and Boli. The best group in burgundy in a while it seems. The biggest area of concern for me is midfield with all the injuries. Looks like Blomberg Gashi, and Boateng won't be available or at least not 100%. And Aigner? Who knows if he'll ever see the pitch in a Rapids kit. All this makes me think that there's a good chance Nicholson will at least be in the 18 for this match, if not a starter. It's hard to imagine the Rapids limiting KFC to one or few goals in this game even with Wilson and Howard both back.
Too many Rapids attackers out for this one. 2-0 loss. Price is due for yellow accumulation, might as well go down fighting.

If soccer were a bigger deal here, would we know which players travel to road games (so we know who's likely to be on the roster)? Or is that a thing not generally revealed even when there's media coverage.
In the past the Rapids Media Director (not the current one) has posted that information. The current leadership seems a little more circumspect about such things.
It does seem that we are left wondering about who is available for any given match until an hour or so before the first kick at which time the staring 11 and the subs are tweeted. What we don't know is who else is healthy, but hasn't been selected. And of course we are all wondering what the heck is up with Aigner.
If you mean attacking midfielders, yes. If you mean forwards, the Rapids are in good shape, assuming there is some service .
Time for #ThreePoints. Here's who we're going with against SKC.📝 Roster Notes: https://t.co/ztMYI8D9h5 pic.twitter.com/W6aDox3juJ— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) May 5, 2018
McBean. Colvey. Wynne. I’ve already had enough. Encouraging to see McBean get the start over Boli AND Mason. At least we aren’t coming off back-to-back losses, on the road, against one of the best teams in the West.
This is absurd. What is it now, 4 weeks without Aigner in the lineup or on the injured list? It’s seems the Rapids are acting like he doesn’t exist.
