I think it's safe to assume that Brazil (6-time champs), Colombia (runners-up at the previous two tournaments), and hosts Chile (strong club league + home team advantage) will make it to the second phase... (The hosts have failed to make the top 4 only once in the tournament's history.) It's a toss-up to me between Argentina and Venezuela for the second spot from group B. Argentina certainly have history on their side, but they've put up rather weak performances the past two tournaments, and I think Venezuela is an up-and-coming side with their new pro league and Castallenos.

For the most of first half it looked like the order of the day for both teams was not to lose an opening match. Towards the end of the 1st half though when energy levels are always expected to drop a little - Chile pushed and Paraguay didn't responded well. I'd say that both Martinez and Villamayor from Paraguay have in them to score by an individual effort... but as a whole Chile looks the better collective. I'd expect a goal from either side between 55-65 minute...longer it's stays 0-0 - the grater the chance for goal from tired blunder at the very end...
Thats the difference. Villamayor had the space and she scored, Rojas for Chile was free and send a weak shoot to the hands of the keeper. Edit... and Aedo scores the equalizer.

Now for Chile will be difficult. Paraguay is happy with the tie. It seems a fair result, Chile weakness is the finish so they tend to add more and more playerws in attack and leave spaces in the back. Colombia and Brazil normally make them pay for that spaces.

It's rough but not really surprising. Colombia has a rating of 1754 and is hosting - so effectively 1854, second-best in the continent - while Uruguay's rating is just 1355 - the second-worst in the continent, only above Bolivia's 1217. If you plug 1854 vs 1355 into FIFA's "expected result" equation, it gives an expected result of 0.946 to Colombia, which implies a GD of 3 or 4, and it's very common when the expected result is near or above 0.950 that the winning team overperforms because the weaker team simply has no answer.

I will be partial: I personally don't think Castellanos belongs to top-3 in the world, but I anyway would like very much to see her through at WWC 2019. I guess such a player deserves the World Cup stage. On a different note, I know my observation is useless, but I find frankly unbearable the obligatory long "o" from the South-American announcers ("Gooooooooool") . Does anyone know when this tradition began and why is it so important to South-American TV-viewers? Sounds so childish to me...
I second that, though she is for certain top-3 young prospect player in the world (along with Sung Hyang Sim and Fuka Nagano) About Goooool! thing it was Goooooolaaaaazzooooo! in feed I was watching and I for one absolutely liked that.considering this goal Sometimes it get's seriously over used though and then I'll grant you that it's childish indeed.
