If the semifinals end up as Leipzig - whoever and Salzburg - whoever, idgaf I'm rooting for Red Bull, in part to watch Europe's collective heads explode.
Welbeck embellished, but in real time, my buddies and I at the pub thought Rodriguez pulled his shoulder back and that's what the ref called. On replay --- not so much. But on the subjects of replays, the replay made Chambers's "handball" look way worse than it really was. Ball is slammed toward him bounces up off either his foot or the Milan player and immediately hits his arm. I just don't think there's any way there's intent there or that his arm is in an unnatural position unless he's supposed to run like one of those Irish river dancers with his arms pinned to his sides.
obviously happy with the win but....he best part of today was when Ozil had a breakaway and was looking to play the ball across the face of the goal which he did and Danny W. should have been making the run to the far post but instead he had backed away from goal and wasn't within 15 yards of the pass. Ozil just looked up at the sky like "WTF". It would have been an easy goal or a very good opportunity for a shot on goal. Seriously what is Danny doing playing striker for Arsenal? His quality is terrible.
Totally agree. This bullshit about ‘unnatural’ position is, well, bullshit. Have these idiots never actually run and tried to stop or change directions quickly themselves? That’s what you do in those situations; it’s the most ‘natural’ thing in the world.
Özil mis-hit that; but Welbeck didn’t do him any favors. Speaking of Özil, 6 chances created on only 60 passes today. Incredible. That’s gotta be some kind of record.
Atletico will park the bus for sure. Arsenal does struggle against such opponents but I’m somewhat optimistic.
First reaction = good draw. Second reaction (after reading uefa.com) = we've never won in Russia (D1 L3?) Let's pray for some extreme-climate-change weather in Moscow?! At least it's on grass and not 3G.
There's not much to talk about during Interlull, but I heard today that we are 2nd favorites to win the UEL, after Atletico. Take that with as many grains of salt as you see fit!
I know it’s from 11 years ago Just think it’s crazy it happened there and in light of recent world events, it’s relevant.
I'll definitely admit that the nerve agents circulating around the UK right now were my first thought after the CSKA draw was announced. Not that I expect anything bad will happen on either leg, but Russia is - ... Russia.
Yeah, the club issued this statement shortly after the tie was announced: https://www.arsenal.com/news/important-travel-information-cska-moscow
