Interview (in French): http://www.va-fc.com/fr/saison/actualite/article/14919/L-entretien-du-mardi-Kyle-Duncan.html When you started football, imagine you come to Europe to play? I could not be sure, but that was my goal. I always wanted to come to Europe. I played in the United States, they wanted me to sign a contract for the reserve team of my club, but I refused and I came here eight months ago. You were evolving to the New York Red Bulls. The workforce was about quality? There were good players, like VA. But I think the games are faster here. What are the main differences between the American and French football? For the US, we run a lot and in France, it is more physical and tactical. What are the positions that you can change on the ground? Before I was playing right midfield. Today, and since my move to New York Red Bulls, I move to right-back. Speaking of being nervous, you were expelled Gambardella Cup last season against Lille at Mont-Huy. But that red card was harsh ... It was hard, because on the second foul, I did not really hit the player. I already had a yellow card, so the referee had to be a bit "angry" against me! But the game remains a good memory. There had never been so public for a game I was playing. It gave me more confidence. I do not like to judge, but I think I had quite a good game.
Once again left out of the game day 16. It was a 1 -2 loss in the derby with Lens. Looks like he played the 2nd half in a first team friendly yesterday: http://www.va-fc.com/fr/saison/breves/article/15411/Amical-Dunkerque-VAFC-3-0.html In midfield.
Was looking around for his progress the last few months with Valenciennes reserves -- and then noticed Balerion's previous post about them being in the 6th tier. No wonder I couldn't find anything.
I was looking for info on this guy a few days ago. Didn't see him listed on the team-sheet for a match, assumed he's no longer at the club.
As @ChuckMe92 alluded to, he seems to be nowhere. Wiki has this to say: Plusieurs joueurs se trouvent en fins de contrats à l'issue de la saison 2016-2017, et quittent le club sans indemnités de transferts : Kyle Duncan, Abdoul Aziz Kaboré (rejoint Boulogne7), Edouard Butin (Brest8) et Saliou Ciss (Angers). Basically says his contract expired and will leave the club without a transfer. His last soccer related Facebook post was in March.

And he goes 90 in a 4-0 win vs Portland. https://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/m...w-york-red-bulls-vs-portland-timbers/boxscore
Fullback is a funny position. Very different requirements depending on the team. I could see how he might not fit in a system there but still be good enough to be an impact MLS player.
I just listened to an interview with him on Seeing Res podcast. He said he trailed with 5 teams before one signed him (Valenciennes) and he was only signed to a semi-pro contract. His experience there was not good and he feels like he was treated differently from the French players. The club got him a French teacher initially but then stopped that arrangement so Duncan had to try to learn from Rosetta Stone himself. And they were then not satisfied with his progress in French. He was going to try out for other teams in France this January, but then reached out to RBNY and got an offer to join them for preseason. He is a VERY quiet kid.
The language & culture piece of the transition to Europe is often overlooked. If you don't pick it up quickly, you can get left behind or get frustrated or homesick.

I am assuming the interest from France (Brest, Reims, Montpellier, and Metz) stems from Ducan’s contacts made during his previous stint with Valenciennes. I also assume his knowledge of the league, culture, and language is attractive to those French clubs. I’m all for it. Ligue 1 is quality despite PSG’s dominance. Those are all solid mid-table clubs with maybe Brest being the exception. I suspect he’ll sign a pre-contact if he’s out of context. Or maybe he could fetch a small and reasonable transfer fee if one of those clubs wants him right now
It seems as though Oostende in Belgium finally won the race. https://yanks-abroad.co/2021/11/10/rbny-defender-duncan-signs-with-kv-oostende-in-belgium/
Great for Kyle, too bad for my Red Bulls. Too bad it's a free. But a good-not-great, youngish-not-young American in MLS probably prices himself out of most realistic moves once he's making second-contract money. So I get it from that perspective.
And so it continues. (From the vines thread) https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/sam-vines-at-royal-antwerp.2089543/page-4#post-39853824
